Do you ever wonder how Central managed to make so many presentation bits in its prime? (1985-1996)
Like, look at this timestamp of this YouTube video:

That's like, 45 minutes of idents, slides, and who knows what, and they're all different from one another to boot

Because that was their style to mix and match everything, think they ultimately ended up with something like 10k pieces of ident by the time they stopped using the cake.
I'd like to think they discovered the power of CGI and presentation and then really went to town on it and then some more. You can see from the video by the time of 1994's presentation kit they seemed to think they'd needed some form of standardisation.
I do remember that 3 minute breakdown loop appeared on air (with that music but not that montage) in 1994 on Central, as it happened during an Mr Bean episode (in lieu of some adverts they either didn't sell or couldn't air).

Was the word 'cake' eve actually used at Central, or is that a retrospective name given by Internet enthusiasts?
I've never seen a cake cut like that before

I’m guessing it’s an internet thing, cuz’ we don’t really have any proof Central themselves we’re using that nickname yet
