Yep, and unlike some of the changes, you can see why it's taking so long with CBeebies - so many different idents and related presentation material, not just all the different programme blocks throughout the day but a large number of programme-specific clips as well, must be at least as many different idents and stings as there as junctions in a day.

Can anyone enlighten me on what BBC Chameleon is? Is it a Karma Chameleon?

"Chameleon" is the codename of the big ol' rebrand project that's still going on at the moment.

Well I've not been great at keeping track of all the different outlets - which has kind of proved a point.

There are sooooo many!

You can see why the BBC are struggling.

It does also make you think - perhaps the BBC *is* too swollen now. They keep threatening to close things like BBC Four, but what about some of the lesser things mentioned here. I've always wondered why they need so many local radio stations. The whole of Wales manages with just one, why not just have four of five covering England?

Two, surely?

Three now as there is BBC Cymru 2 as well.

Just as it's easy for an Englishman to think the nations could take BBC network rather than have their own version of BBC1/2 it's just as easy for a Welshman to think local channels in England could perhaps be handly on a regional basis rather than a local basis - but for example Shropshire is very different to Birmingham, Norfolk to Essex, Humberside to Sheffield etc. I'd say Wales is probably underserved rather than England overserved in this case.

Anyhow, that's for the other thread. I don't particularly think the mammoth size is the only reason for the overly long rollout of the branding. Ultimately it seems to be more about will and delivery rather than the project being too big to handle. BBC News could have done this weeks update back in October had those within BBC News known about the wider plan at the time (posts here suggested a few days out BBC News were completely out of the loop on rebrand plans).

The focus should have been primarily on visual branding - so the channels as it was but also other widely viewed visual elements such as BBC News and BBC Sport, plus the childrens channels. All of that should have been in phase 1 and if not done on the same day within a short period of each other. Perhaps online and apps should have been phase 2, with the predominantly audio services next in line and then finally the non-viewer facing aspects such as building signs etc. Quite shocked to read that a minor office like Wrexham has already been updated - I'm guessing the likes of NBH and MediaCity haven't been.

Perhaps people within the BBC realise that the rebranding is awful and is no better than the mocks produced on this and the blue place by enthusiastic yet still-learning teenyboppers.

That might be the real reason for the drip feed of changes.

(99.9% it's not that reason though, I'd be willing to put the mortgage on).

Appreciate I'm probably very slow off the mark, but I've just sent he start of Rip-Off Britain and it had the new blocks appear in the titles, where the old ones normally would. I know Doctor Who updated its logo fairly quickly but are there any other programmes where this is the case?

I think you need to add Freeview/Youview/Freesat/Sky EPG logos to the list

Are these within the power of the BBC though?

I'm not sure, BBC Three has had the correct logo from launch so obviously the BBC could have released all the corrected logos at that time but clearly didn't. So I think it might be within the BBCs gift.

Whilst the platforms would have to do the actual work in changing the logos, they would rely on the broadcaster to submit a logo change request.

Other channels' logos have changed on EPGs on the same day they've changed on screen, so I can only assume the BBC hasn't asked for them to be changed yet.

If you want another thing for the list, you could add the BBC Archive clips they post on Twitter. Some clips use the old blocks and some use the new ones.

Also, on the YouTube page, the channel icon uses the new blocks, but they still use the old blocks in the thumbnail (is the 'ARCHIVE' in the video thumbnail even in Reith? It's very small so i can't quite tell).
