The 2006 rebrand had the view of the ITN atrium, which I kind of liked, as the 2004 theatre of news set always looked very cold and empty with the blue colours.
Yes, a missed opportunity to deliver a much needed visual and musical refresh. I understand the notion of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" but nearly a decade is quite a long time for there to be practically no changes whatsoever. Almost unprecedented really. I can only really think of the current BBC News branding (which seems to be due a refresh soon by all accounts) and a couple of bulletins from the 1980s that kept their branding for a long time (BBC's Six 1984-1993 and ITN's News at 5.45 1976-1988). They needn't have gone for anything radical, but a fresh take on the look and sound of the bulletin wouldn't have gone amiss, especially as they seem to have heavily promoted the changes today.

I watched the interview with Mary Nightingale during Lookaround.
The first question and answer included Mary acknowledging "Ian" (Payne) by name. And when she was talking about there being more EN correspondents around the UK, she mentioned both "northern England" and "Scotland". So, at least these elements of Mary's interview were bespoke per region/sub-region.
But much of the rest of it included her talking more broadly about the new EN, and using generic phrases like "in your region" or similar. That, and also how some of the cuts between the regional presenters and Mary came across, gave me the impression that most of it she only recorded once in total. Each region's presenters probably then had to record their "interactions" with Mary (in many cases twice, with each sub-regional backdrop on the studio "window"), and the whole thing edited together.
MISLEADING HEADLINE "MAKES YOU READ ARTICLE", SAYS NAKED MILEY CYRUS.
Some new coming up graphics, not majorly different however.
I noticed there was no ad break between The Chase and the regional news. I assume The Chase started later than usual or were the ad break durings The Chase longer?

I thought the Ukrainian invasion would mean it'd be business as usual. There's no point revamping the presentation when the audience just wants the latest war news and not them experimenting with new features.

I very much get the sense that the head honchos want today to be a soft launch. Listening to what Mary Nightingale said today on This Morning backs that inference up, I think. I suspect that there will be a new look, but not until the autumn at least. I do agree with you, though - a rebrand is well due.

OK, so we seem to have two sets of 'coming up' graphics, presumably one for before a break and one for the TOTH. Much prefer the one that just aired, though.
