2022 Winter Olympics

Edit - It seems to be about half and half between Italy and the Bird's Nest
Also they had only 6 performers according to the segment's director Marco Balich (director of the Turin 2006 ceremonies). Makes sense as we're still in COVID times. Hopefully it'll be normal again in 4 years time.
And there is a post-party!
Not often will you see an Olympic ceremony finish in under two hours!! An achievment in itself.

All in all, an enjoyable fortnight with some bad moments but plenty of highs too! What to do for the next 1400 days now...

Obsessed with Clare Balding trying to get her little Bing Dwen Dwen to stand up on the BBC Sport coffee table
And with Beijing 2022 now over with, it's now only...

12 days until the Winter Paralympics
887 days until Paris 2024
1447 days until Milan-Cortina 2026
Nearly time for one of the highlights of the Winter or Summer Olympics: the big long list of credits.

And a bit less of a wait for...

158 days until Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games
172 days until Munich 2022 European Championships
699 days until Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Olympics
Nothing quite beats a BBC olympic closing montage! Roll on the summer for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth games...

"Escape to the Country in 45 minutes on BBC One, but first, here's a extra show for you today"
The BBC coverage isn't officially over yet, as Clare and co will be back for one final Today at the Games this evening on BBC Two at 7.

Outstanding coverage from the BBC as usual, the trailer and titles were brilliant as were the graphics/wipes, the virtual studio was much better than the studio for Pyeongchang; with my presenting medals for these games going to Hazel Irvine (Gold), Clare Balding (Silver) and JJ Chalmers (Bronze)
Not sure if the Discovery deal prevents post-closing ceremony coverage but it seems that way with only a replay of the closing ceremony later despite there being action from overnight they could respond, plus the Figure Skating Gala which they did show this morning and is a far more entertaining watch than the Closing Ceremony.

The landing page for the Winter Olympics has gone too from the red button, meaning you have to search through the iPlayer with it not being quite so easy to navigate.

Glad that the BBC did recap the last of the action from overnight during the final Today at the Games, shame that it wasn't extended by just 10-15 minutes for us to get a bit more of the Closing Ceremony highlights. Also, Chemmy Alcott and Lizzy Yarnold have been a great analyst pairing on the highlights show alongside Clare for most of these games

The BBC's closing montage for these games brought a tear to my eye as these 'End of the Games credits roll' montages always do

Zàijiàn, xièxiè Beijing ?
Duplicated Post - needs deleting
I didn’t realise that the BBC’s medal snowman was a real object (obviously not a real snowman) and not CGI’ed in until now

Not watched much of Today at the Games but what I've seen of Chemmy suggests she has been a strong part of the team with knowledge of events far beyond her field, and it was interesting how she talked about her friendships with people in other sports developing following her career, no doubt partly through to broadcast connections, and how she wished she'd had the opportunity as an athlete to get the insights from other sports that she gets now.

I'd also not watched much overnight coverage until last night with Ayo but he has improved so much over the last couple of years and was completely at ease post-curling. I know winning gold versus losing the final are different scenarios but the difference between him and Janette yesterday shows he's in a different class.
