Premier League 2021-2 Season - Television
RR post_id=60912 time= user_id=827 Wrote:I also get a good picture from Amazon, but not via all the outlets I have. The apps on Sky Q and my LG TV are as good as broadcast, and both are HDR for the main match of the day.

However, Virgin Media (V6 on TIVO software), Roku, and Chromecast all are lower quality - mainly frame rate related from the look of things. They need to ensure that all of the apps are as good as the first two mentioned.

Or rather, the manufacturers of those devices need to ensure they (and any links in the chain between app and screen) can support 50fps streaming in a way that major content providers can code apps that will reliably deliver it.

Often it isn't the content provider or their development teams that are the problem.
Southampton v Newcastle postponed from 14.00 on Sunday.

I think the only way the season will be able to extended is if this level of disruption occurs in other big European leagues and UEFA the have to change the national league Calender.

Several of the non TV postponed matches have now been rescheduled.
Since analysing the figures last the number of outstanding matches (excluding those already rearranged) has only dropped by ONE, when this matchweek's postponements are considered

Current Affected Teams - Outstanding rearrangements,,
Burnley 4
Watford 4
Arsenal 3
Brighton 3
Leeds 3
Spurs 3
Aston Villa 2
Chelsea 2
Everton 2
Leicester 2
Liverpool 2
Man Utd 2
Newcastle 2
Wolves 2
Brentford 1
Crystal Palace 1
Norwich 1
Southampton 1
I expect a lot of these will be rescheduled in the midweek of w/c 17th January.

Were the FA Cup replays scrapped after?

They may be able to reschedule some for the 4th round weekend (and midweek 5th round) where relevant teams are knocked out. Suspect PL bosses wouldn't mind a record number of giant killings.

Have been for both the third and fourth round.

But I suspect the original slot for the third round replays will probably see some cup games still played there as I will be shocked if they are not some postponements next weekend with the rate of how games are postponed atm.

Football isn't my thing at all, but this is general thing... and I'm not a fan of either live-event streaming or Amazon, but I'd like to think this is a level-headed point...

I don't think AZPV have ever had an intention to be a mainstream sports broadcaster in the same way as Sky, BT, Discovery etc - but have loss-leading "low-hanging-fruit" type rights that they can bundle into Prime at key times of the year. For fans who don't have an AP subscription, but do have Sky/BT/Discovery, you are effectively relying on 30day free trials to avoid extra cost.

As you say, that approach only goes so far before price hikes are inevitable, I guess at that point AZ need to decide if they want to be a mainstream sports broadcaster or if that's just a sideshow to their main focus...
Four postponed fixtures that were due to be on BT Sport have been rearranged, all will be on BT:

Tuesday 18 January
19:30 Burnley v Watford
20:00 Brighton v Chelsea

Wednesday 19 January
19:30 Leicester v Spurs
20:00 Brentford v Man Utd

The Premier League does note, though, that if any of these clubs' FA Cup fixtures are postponed this weekend, this will have to change again!

At least they do postpone matches. In Italy farcical situations are occurring. I wonder how the broadcast rights holders feel about the situation there.

It was Sky's Fixture too. Another one joining the backlog.
