Tokyo Paralympics on Channel 4 - via Leeds

If only Channel 4 still had that Tokyo ident from the old package. Wink

Mixed feelings about them continuing to use Public Enemy as the theme tune - I think it might have been time to move on from that and just use it for The Last Leg, especially if your opening intro has to be more of a promotion for them than for the event itself.

You got my hopes up then. They did introduce it by apologising for the games being "slighted later than billed". Wink

Pink on purple isn't great for the astons - you'd think they'd be more conscious of legibility. Leeds set is very nice though and a bit of stadium dressing too.

The track cycling is finishing between 0700 & 0800 each day with swimming finals starting at 0900 leaving most of the show conveninently in a gap between those flagship disciplines.

Interesting that swimming finals are back at the end of the day. As expected the interest and influence from NBC is lower so they can go back to the norm.

Have any other changes been made to schedules to hit primetime (or daytime hours) in key markets for the Paralympics?

Browsing through the schedules quickly and it appears most other sports are at similar times to their Olympic equivalents. The only notable difference I can see is Archery medal matches closer to 1100 rather than 0700 the Olympic finals were. Worth noting too that there are a wealth of Athletics finals in the morning session as there's so many medals to be awarded. And when both are on, there's an overlap between Swimming and Athletics between 1100 & 1200, not sure if they are conveniently scheduled to allow coverage to flip between one and the other.

I think if they had of changed it they would have done it in Rio, people associate the tune with Paralympic Sport since 2012 and people would probably complain if they did change it a bit like people saying when Channel 4 got the India v England series they had to use Mambo Number 5.

C4 just played a couple of adverts with audio description over them, I thought I’d accidentally hit the audio description button on my remote!

Another break? They've only been on air 20 minutes

What's happening on 4Seven?

Are they just simulcasting C4 until the ceremony starts

This is so much more upbeat than the Olympic Opening Ceremony already. Wonderful Big Grin

Well that ad break came out of nowhere.

As in football coverage, the more ads they can do in the build-up, the fewer they need to take during the main event.

Much better than the Olympic Opening Ceremony, feels more upbeat.

We're on another break though and not sure that was a natural break in the ceremony to go to ads. It's times like this I wish the BBC had the Paralympics.

Could do with add the flag bearer details to the OBS graphics. For all it's faults I do like the info graphics NBC use on the parade highlighting where the country is, upcoming countries and other info.

Occasionally flicking over to the 4Seven coverage and they seem to have a rota of signers - seen three so far. Are they signing the 4Seven commentary, the C4 commentary or doing their own thing?

Though when the BBC did have the Paralympics, they covered them terribly. I thinkl a few ad breaks are the price to pay for the massively improved coverage.

As predicted not much integration between the web streams and All4. If you click on the Opening Ceremony Live on the Paralympics home page it takes you to All4 to watch C4, but under the Watch Live tab you get the OBS version with a pre-roll ad from Toyota, but then seemingly ad free.

Loving the stadium floor graphics on the parade. The split screen graphic was nice for the interview with Ellie Simmonds too - would work well for continuing coverage during the ads, which NBC did this year.
