Yes, their Olympic coverage would suffer against it but surely Olympics this year + Superbowl next year would bring in more revenue than Superbowl this year + repeats next year.

I guess in that post-Superbowl slot (so Monday 14th about 11am Beijing time) they'll join the Figure Skating Free Dance in progress (or on delay).
Well, this is exactly what NBC wanted, have both the Super Bowl & the Winter Olympics in the same year.....And they'll have it again in 4 years thanks to the NFL's new contract arrangement that'll have ABC in the Super Bowl rotation thanks to them airing a few more games, even if it's simply a simulcast of ESPN's Monday Night Football.

I'm sure I read at the time the NFL deal was announced that NBC wanted the Super Bowl in the same year as a Winter Olympics because it made packages of commercial slots a more attractive proposition, gave lots of chances for cross promotion and so on.

Ed Leigh & Chemmy Alcott were presenting but Graham Bell was commentating yesterday so not left the show just not the co-presenter anymore by the look of it.

All change this week with Graham Bell & Jenny Jones co-presenting. Graham was on-site in Wengen also doing interviews and the camera run with Matt Chilton back on commentary (he's been commentating for Eurosport all season, mainly on the women's events so doing Ski Sunday commentary would mean him doubling up every week thus far). Jenny was on-site at Laax with Ed Leigh commentating. So a completely different set-up.

One thing I never understand about Ski Sunday is why it only covers the middle of the skiing season (which runs non-stop between mid November and the end of March) - I presume something to do with budgets? It is nice to have the extra context and interviews that is lacking in the Eurosport coverage though.

There will be some kind of crowd at the Olympics, sadly no ticketed spectators or international audiences though.

New Beijing 2022 DOG appeared underneath the standard DOG on Eurosport 1 and 2 as of this morning.

I thought its to do with the calendar, and the 'blue ribbon' mens downhill races at places like Wengen, and Garmesh Partekirken take place in January and February in most non Winter Olympic years.

Commentary of the Openning Ceremony on BBC One apparently from John Hunt and Gigi Salmon

Also, Jeanette Kwakye taking over at 0400 on Day One rather than 0600

Similar to Tokyo then when despite being bill at 6am Dan and Sam usually came on air at some point between 4am and 5am.

HUGE news here in the States as NBC, outside of Mike Tirico going for the Opening Ceremonies & the first week of the Winter Games in Beijing before flying back stateside in time for the Super Bowl in L.A., will not send announcers to China, instead they'll work the games from NBC Sports HQ in Stamford, CT which is where Mike will go after the Super Bowl.

Will NBC Sports have some programming anchored from China apart from Mike Tirico's first week in primetime?
Joining in from Paris, France.

John Hunt and Gigi Salmon are surprise choices to commentate on the opening ceremony.

Orla Chennaoui, Radzi Chinyanganya, Reshmin Chowdhury & Greg Rutherford to present Eurosport's coverage. Amy Williams joins after previously being on the BBC in 2018, and British 2018 medalist Billy Morgan and legendary biathlete Martin Fourcarde also part of the coverage. Press release aso says more names to be announced in the build-up.

A-list is pushing it. Pretty much the same team as Tokyo, unsurprisingly, who are all perfectly competent but ultimately somewhat lacking in that star quality which would lift their presentation beyond functional.

Looks like Orla at least will be going to Beijing. Safe to assume Reshmin will be in the Cube back in London again as well I'd say.

Certainly the English team is not A-list but reading through the names listed for the other languages in the press release it does looks pretty decent, even A-list in places. Obviously there's not many English-speaking countries that do well in the Winter Olympics which certainly is a factor there. But agree it will be a bit functional, I doubt there'll be much that will sway me away from the BBC coverage apart from anything that isn't shown there.

The BBC's promo for the Games has just aired after the BBC Three trailer.
It revolves around an ice cube with animations of various sports in the Games. Looks to be either CGI, stop-motion or both.
