Can't fully remember but it involved an announcer introducing a programme for ITV before being told she's on the wrong channel, then "should've gone to Specsavers" I think!

If it is, I'd say it's very loosely based on/inspired by it (couldn't find a colour version that wasn't part of a compilation).

The way the lines come in remind of the 1970s Tyne Tees ident.

Very nicely done. For some reason it feels weird for ITV to do stuff like this, the BBC and Channel 4 have brought back old idents for relevant period programmes, although ITV doesn't really have old 'ITV' network idents.

Yeah, BBC One used the era appropriate mirror globes for Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes, which were set in the 70s and 80s.

But ITV's first real national ident didn't appear until 1989, unless you count the post-strike Welcome Home to ITV one from a decade earlier.

I guess if they were really pushing the boat out they could have played out different era correct regional idents but for the effort required this is more than an appropriate compromise.

Do they even have the infrastructure for that on all regions still? The ident into the regional news is incorporated into the titles.

I have to say, this isn’t that bad for a 70’s themed ITV ident

It would be pretty cool if they managed to get all the regions to air all their old 70’s idents, but then again there are some ramifications they’d have to deal with if they wanted to
