The usage of a logo like that is a carryover from the previous look, and they also use it for a few other publications; I believe I've seen them have ones for Politico, The New York Times, and possibly The Washington Post as well.

Two-line straps are not new, at least from my occasionally regular viewing of the channel's evening programming in recent years. It certainly looks better here than in some instances of it in the previous look though.

MSNBC had a ticker for a little while a couple years ago, and apparently it also returned last summer for a little bit.

(The bit under the logo that says 'reports' does alternate with 'live' and the time on the broadcast version, but there's no permanent 'live' bug)
My biggest issue with the live bug with the packages subsequent the “top bar” is that the during the top bar era the bug would disappear when they’d play file video or packages. I assume it was some sort of trigger.

I actually don’t mind those graphics at all, although the heavy blue in the Stephanie Ruhle Reports titles becomes overkill because of how much blue is visible in the ‘studio’ behind her.

It looks like MSNBC is now the #1 cable news network in the US?

That's right: https://www.adweek.com/tvnewser/q1-2021-...ay/475199/

However, as the article says, everyone can lay claim to being number one, because...
CNN was number 1 in the demo (viewers aged 25-54)
Fox News was number 1 in prime time

On Monday the first day the top 50 cable show only five hours of the Derek Chauvin Trial showed up in ratings all from CNN. Maddow was the only msnbc show to crack the top 50 at 34.

I take it the TV one is the newer, and they simply haven’t updated the website? Pretty poor from a corporate image perspective, but coordinating these things might be harder during COVID working practices.

Rachel Maddow started her show off, and then immediately lost power at the insert studio she works from. Richard Lui who is at 30 Rock as the back up presenter (whenever someone isn’t at HQ or a buru there’s a backup) and he continued with a brief update of the Capitol Police incident. Then Ali Velshi took over around 7 minute in and Rachel was back at 9:23.

Ali Velshi was hosting the next hour.

Edit: Rachel thanked NBC field ops for helping her get up and running. I don’t know where she’s based if it’s her NY place as he few interviews she’s done with her partner show it to be basically a studio apartment. But she could be up in Massachusetts and they finally kitted her out.

As of this morning, the logo on the website has been switched to the new one.

It’s a safe bet. Sunday they didn’t trigger the Name Dropper character generator that’s used to insert the ticker/time/temp. The character generator has to have its configurations changed for new graphics so typically NBC has station make the change after Saturday today. That being said, stations can still trigger the ticker on Today manually if they wanted to this Sunday. They’d just make the configuration change after the show.

Just saw a clip of the opening titles. Very 'Powerpoint', not what I'd expect from NBC. It's fresh and different, but it's not NBC.
