Yes, a missed opportunity to deliver a much needed visual and musical refresh. I understand the notion of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" but nearly a decade is quite a long time for there to be practically no changes whatsoever. Almost unprecedented really. I can only really think of the current BBC News branding (which seems to be due a refresh soon by all accounts) and a couple of bulletins from the 1980s that kept their branding for a long time (BBC's Six 1984-1993 and ITN's News at 5.45 1976-1988). They needn't have gone for anything radical, but a fresh take on the look and sound of the bulletin wouldn't have gone amiss, especially as they seem to have heavily promoted the changes today.
