Children's BBC used to have a sung version of their ident sung by its presenters, I think Josie Darby was one of them

Two well known examples from Australia (well, the closest we really have had...)

And Channel 9 news used to use a jingle for its news service

David Letterman had a whole bunch of JAM jingle resigns done, once.

Ooh, is that the one at 1:08 in this video? I'd never clocked that it was sung by the presenters, but it might well have been! There's a load of 1996/7-era CBBC continuity on YouTube these days, and it seems as though they often played this off the back of the main ident to kick off the afternoon sequence.

Early Pop and Tiny Pop idents had a chorus singing the channel's name at the end of them.

That's the one, sounds like Josie Darby and Chris Jarvis to me.

...well, apart from Channel 4.

Channel 5 in the white "celebs pratting about with slogans" era.

ABC1's first lot.

Seem to remember E4's channel name being read out in a metallic / computer / robot voice on one set of idents.

I did say "main 5 channels", so E4 and ABC1 don't count

There’s the TV-am ‘Your With Friends’ promo from ‘87

I think the TV-am promo is one of my earliest memories. I remember being fascinated with the water pouring out of the TV set like a shower.

Here's the full version:

They went through a phase of playing the song over the end credits each day.

I'm sure I read somewhere it was also to do with being a "feature" of Australian TV, seeing as Bruce Gyngell hailed from the country, so it was a concept he bought over (apparently).. A cheesy promotional piece of VT, which presumably fitted in with the mantel of keeping it cheap when Gyngell came on board.

Not sure if it counts but all of the original Channel 5 idents from 1997 featured the word five being sung/whispered often in a sultry tone...
