For me, it's better than cropping the image (you still get the 4:3 image), but still isn't particularly great - it's one step up. I believe ITV News do it on some mobile footage.

Its okay for darker scenes but incredibly distracting for anything light. They used it on some Morecambe & Wise show with a bright coloured curtain behind the talent - and the end result looked like the ghosting effect you used to see on analogue TV broadcasts. It also looked like there was another Morecambe & Wise behind them!

Same generic/pre-recorded announcements just telling you what the programme is, (or in some of BBC Four's announcements, the genre of programme e.g. "Thought-provoking documentaries"). In this day of age, most channels seem to do this, but have noticed BBC Four doing this now for most announcements.

Either the lack of 'st' on the date or the channel LCN not reflecting the channel number

Saying "July one" instead of "July first"? Is that not just an Aussie thing?

Must be, Americans still say '1st' even if its written as July 1.

A common thing in Aussie promos but not really in everyday speech. I can’t imagine, for example:

“When’s your birthday, Bruce?”
“February ten, Sheila”.

9SD will be on Channel 8, and 9HD on 80 I believe (in most regional areas).

Any announcer who doesn't pronounce 'Th' and say 'F' . Basic English would be good.
