I might be completely wrong but is this the first time NBC and TELEMUNDO affiliates in the SAME MARKET have had the same graphics packages? I know they are both owned by NBCUniversal. But Ive never seen this. I dont think. WOW!

Can we maybe split out affiliate chat?
I keep seeing the new post icon and thinking theres a rebrand or a shakeup or something, but it's just some station in some state getting a new set/graphics/music.
It's still interesting to see, but not worthy or 'right' to dilute network chat with something tiny in comparison. The CBS studio in Times Square doesn't belong in the same place as some far flung rural station getting a new set made mostly of cardboard and LED lights...

I understand your feelings. You're right, its a local station somewhere getting a new look, but, in the case of these stations, it is actually a company-wide, O&O-wide roll-out, for all NBC and Telemundo stations. They always change their looks in the run-up to the Summer Olympics, but more recently, with Look F, Look N and Look S, they have been really standardized. Beforehand, most stations had NBC Arthouse-designed looks, but it was not standardized always: in 2012, when Look F debuted in most stations, WNBC had still the look of the ill-fated content center era, it was until some months later when they switched to such graphics (and it was, coincidentally, the end of the content center era too), whereas KNSD switched in 2011 to a more social media-first graphics package called Look E, developed in collaboration with ad agency Mother New York, with lots of flat design (even more than Look S). As part of the O&O-wide rollout, there were plans to drop each channel number in conjunction with the planned switch to unify them with the newly-created NBC Nonstop diginet of regional services (which evolved from WNBC's NY Nonstop lifestyle service and its now known as Cozi TV) and their own websites, and KNSD did so. However, it was ultimately unsuccessful with viewers, that Look E did not roll out in the other O&Os, and it was phased out on KNSD in two steps, first, by returning the channel number (that's cable 7 in San Diego, but the OTA 39 did not return), and second, changing the logo and dropping the flat graphics in favour of Look F.

It does say "affiliates" in the post title, but if you do want to start a seperate thread, there's nothing stopping you from doing so...

It does indeed, just thinking back to TVF where the affiliate chat was separate and busy, due to the amount of changes happening and and the vast number of stations.

I've noticed that the NBC News Now 'full broadcast' videos on YouTube are just 45 minutes from Alison Morris's block. I'm guessing that's an hour minus the ad breaks.
Anyone know if Alison's block (and indeed the others) are just a single hour on loop? If so, I've never noticed.

Answering your question, every NBC News Now block is an hour-long block, and it is repeated at various times through daytime (with updates on breaking news if necessary). That is also the case with the Morning News Now block, it airs live at 7 a.m. Eastern and it is immediately broadcast on tape-delay twice after the original broadcast (with updates if necessary too). It is just like the golden age of CNN Headline News, when a half hour slot was broadcast live and then repeated during two-three hour slots afterwards. The rest of the schedule is made of repeats, mainly from Today (as Today in 60, an hour-long summary of the four hour-long broadcast) and the full editions of NBC Nightly News from the day, and Meet the Press on Sundays, which are then repeated during prime time and most overnights.

Thanks for the info. I've never watched for long enough to notice any repetition - which I guess is the case for most viewers.
It's fantastic that they're able to run original programming from 7am to 9pm (with three distinct shows) from just a few hours of live output. It's a very efficient operation and it looks great - my favourite of all the US streaming news channels.

This looks great. The blue bits are similar to WNBC's set, but this one is a million times better.

This set is lightyears better than WNBC. It feels brighter and lighter. I hate wood on sets generally. But the way this is applied it looks really nice. I read somewhere that NBC wants big screens. So NBC 5 WMAQ Chicago installed one in the NBC Tower there. They ripped down an entire corner of their cramped set and just replaced with video walls. Its badly done because it looks like it was hastly thrown up. They need a completely new set, but are constrained by space limits since they share the are now with the Telemundo. Its very cramped. It wasnt built for 2 studios and 2 newsrooms. Its mess that hasnt addressed in years since they moved Telemundo into the NBC Tower.

The big issue with Chicago is that almost everything there is unionized. So sets can’t be changed much or rebuilt without a union and for some builds you may multiple. My guess is if they wanted to go the cheap route they probably got the electrical shop to but the LED walls in front of the old plasma walls.

Oh fun fact the wall on the viewer right is actually able to be pushed back. Behind it is a 90° chroma key wall for the weather that has just enough space for one camera. But if they wanted to do VR with two cameras the wall would need to be pushed back.
