Why is Channel 4's logo just the blocks in white there? Wasn't their circles package in use at the time?

Yes, the circles had been in use for the better part of a year by this point.

The magazine is from 1997. BBC Two didn't change to the purple box until 2001, and they didn't change the font of the TWO until 2007. The 1997 logo certainly existed for 4 years.

I believe what JAS is trying to say is that it wasn't used on air or in print other than here.

BBC Two using teal was a throwback to when it was the predominant colour on the first set of 2 idents launched in 1991. The pre-97 listings used it alongside the 2 logo.

That was also my understanding. Teal was 'their colour' even after 1997, so it seemed sensible to use it with the box logo for print purposes.

Those box logos are actually the stacked variants with a colour appropriate background, specifically the BBC One version is the balloon generic channel background but cropped to a box. These were also seen on billboards for the Eurovision Song Contest in 1998:

Viridian has been the Channel 3/ITV for South & South East England franchisee since 1993, hasn't it?

*gets coat*

I recall the time when Sky 3 was rebranded as Pick TV in 2011, the idents for the channel had remained the same regardless of the name change and it just happened less than a month after Sky rebranded all of their channels.

At least the arrows made it a bit more interesting. Would be tempted to say the Pick TV ident may have been designed first and was adapted to be used briefly for Sky3 before the relaunch rather than the other way round.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case after all.

In 2007, the Sky Movies channels were rebranded from numbers to genres, this resulted in these idents:

In 2010, the Sky Movies logo was changed, but the idents remained:

It seems they were also tweaked in December, before the new idents in 2011.

probably the point presentation peaked - those red green blue UK Drama idents are just fantastic, such great visuals.

Stretching the point a bit, UK Gold's 'gold things' idents and then the subsequent fireworks idents were reused on UK Gold 2, so they could also count as old idents with a new logo.
