We don’t have much information about this year’s series yet, but I presume we’ll be getting another weekly serial. I’m not as sure if they will broadcast the last show from abroad, or whether the “Takeaway Getaway” will be the prize offered again this year.

The risk of having a show abroad isn't worth it, or indeed leaving the bubble of the studio. Even an on location show in the UK is probably not worth the risk at the moment in case things change, but would love to see them do a show live from Newcastle.

I didn't bother with the last series at all really as thought it was pretty tired and certainly think the serials should have finished a couple of years back. Not sure what they did last year but the one the year before basically all about fart jokes was terrible.

The rules over having a studio audience have changed fairly quickly, even since the autumn of 2021. Originally it was mandated that vaccinated audience members were allowed into studios, however now the new norm is a simply lateral flow test taken 24 hours before attending, with a negative result.

So, I assume the full 600 strong audience will be back, all subject to compulsory lateral flow test to be taken on the day, or 24 hours before attending, and of course the result has to be negative. Mask wearing will probably be made optional, as with other shows.

Based on the Millionaire recording I'm attending in a couple of weeks you don't even need a negative test any more, just proof you've been double vaccinated (you can use a negative test as an alternative if you haven't been double vaccinated), no face masks either

I'm also at an Apprentice You're Fired recording tomorrow which still states you'll need proof of vaccination AND a negative test result taken on the day of recording plus face masks (although you may be 'invited to remove these'), not sure if all that will be the case tomorrow as the government guidelines have changed since the start of the You're Fired filmings

The small print for the Millionaire audience basically states 'you accept the risk at an event such as this there is always going to be a small chance of Covid transmission'

Although we have seen other shows with full studio audiences, I don’t think we’ve seen any with audience interaction?

There is usually Ant and Dec mingling with the audience during Happiest Minute, dragging unexpected people onto the stage, win the ads etc, so I wonder if they will do all this sort of thing as normal, or if Ant and Dec will be distanced from the audience?

I’m wondering if Covid might be a good excuse to drop the big live abroad finale show, as it probably sucked up quite a lot of time and budget and going to Disney World and the like could get quite samey. They still get all the benefit of product placement by just advertising the holiday

I see the Applause Store website are now making available the free tickets to be in the studio audience for the show, so I guess the virtual audience was thankfully for one year only!

I find the ad really odd - it's either genius or awful. I guess all long running entertainment shows are kind of in the same predicament - you're selling it based on the familar things that keeps viewers coming back, but for viewers that have tuned out all it does is reinforce that the show is relying on the same old features.

Worth noting though that although it's got about a third of the episode count thanks to doing 7 rather than 22 episodes a year that the revived series of Takeaway has now ran for more years than Noels House Party - and it is fair to say that it is in much better shape at this stage than NHP was even a couple of series earlier.
