How long will classic family guy air on ITV2?
#1
Hello. I read that ITV2 have lost the rights to Family Guy & American Dad. Does anyone know long they have the rights for with the classic episodes?. I’m just curious

Disney Plus have poached the rights I forgot to add

I think we need to define the definition of "poach" here.
Family Guy is already on Disney+, its been there a while and it wasn't exactly difficult to work out that's where the new episodes will end up.
This is no different to Sky and Channel 4 with regards to The Simpsons - Channel 4 get "new" episodes a few seasons or so after Sky have aired them and the archive too. Different programme, same sort of arrangement. All it means you have to wait for Season 20, that's all.

Although of course it can be argued Family Guy's outstayed its welcome, much like Simpsons. Occasional glimpses of being a great episode, but realistically it ain't as good as it used to be so...

Yeah, Star have only taken the first window rights - which makes sense because Disney owns 20th Century. It won't affect repeats on ITV2 and they'll still get the new episodes eventually.

When I saw the thread title, I was expecting it to be someone making the incorrect assumption that it'd be going back to BBC Three now that the channel is coming back on air.

Unlikely I would have thought Family Guy goes back to BBC Three any time soon, if at all.
Of course it attracted mainstream appeal on BBC Three after hiding away on Channel 4 and Sky (and later BBC Two), before the channel closed, and ITV2 moved in.

When the Fox (previously FX) channel aired them did they have exclusive rights to new episodes?

I’m pretty sure ITV 2 had the first run of Family Guy episodes with Fox having the first run of American Dad.
