Whilst this news was on the horizon for quite a while, it still comes as a bit of a shock. Even as somebody who had only heard of him within the final months of his life, it was clear how many lives he impacted. My thoughts are with his family, friends, and all those fortunate to know him.

May he rest in peace.

RIP Gary - thoughts with his husband, friends and family. He was a much respected and much loved broadcaster here in the Channel Islands and was on air even until very recently despite his illness. He had an effortless warmth and you could tell the love and respect his colleagues had for him.

Terribly sad news. Whilst I don't live in the Channel Islands, it's clear to see the impact that his journalism and other work had, not just there, but across the whole of the UK.

I've been following his story over recent months, and what struck me was his positivity, despite what he was going through. And he continued doing what he loved - journalism - right til the end.

My thoughts are with his husband, family, former colleagues and friends. Rest in peace, Gary.

Really heartfelt tributes from all who knew Gary. It's clear to see how well liked and respected he was. Also, nice to see a tribute on the network ITV News beforehand.
On a separate note, interesting to see Senator Kristina Moore in the report by Clare Burton - a former colleague of Gary's at ITV Channel.
From one Garry to another, rest in peace, Gary Burgess.

A beautiful tribute programme for him. A very charismatic reporter and a talent that’s a huge loss to Channel.

Must say that ending recorded by Gary for his own tribute programme was completely poignant and heartwrenching at the very end.
