I've always wondered, what with Now TV in established usage, what the barriers are to Sky offering a full IP based 'Sky' service?
It may be a basic question, but what are the scalabilities of adding more streams? Is it do with how they are distributed to users? I have only a limited understanding of how it all works.

In theory you can have as many streams as you like, in practice depends how much hardware/bandwidth you want to lob at it. YouTube quite often has over half a million people viewing live streams (albeit across all that are on at the time, not just one stream!) across the whole platform so if Google can do it there's no reason why anybody else couldn't if you set it up properly. I wouldn't be the least surprised if in this new model all the streams for Ben, TCM, The God Channel and whatever else are made and pulled in from the broadcasters directly (or their playout, though I dare say that's all consolidated these days to a handful) and it looks seamless. After all on the satellite "traditional" model the EPG is the common link, but Sky don't broadcast all six million channels themselves, they just unify the satellite feeds squirted upwards from wherever they get pumped up to the transponders.

Among the issues previously stated:
1 - not all channels on SkyQ want to be on a Sky / Virgin Media iptv service - e.g. the BBC would rather you just use the iplayer and not someone else's branded service to get them - this is the case for many other especially, but not only, free to air channels 2 - not all channels (including some pay ones) want to have a cloud based recording system for their streams

I wonder should we read into the fact that 'magic' is stylized and gets the same burst of color as the Sky logo at the end of the teaser. The bold version of the Sky font could have been used. To me it does look like it could be a logo, perhaps it could it be the brand name for what ever is launching.

I doubt it's any adjustments to the Sky logo. Remember, Sky News is always late to the party when it comes to rebrands. Would be surprising if it's anything else other than Sky by IP (what insiders are apparently calling it) and/or news about Peacock.

The IPTV version of Sky has been available for a while in Austria (branded SkyX) and more recently Germany (where it’s “Sky Q over internet television” or Sky Q IP). In neither market is PVR functionality available and those wanting it are directed to the satellite product.
