UHD - soap opera effect

I thought I'd banished the dreaded 'soap opera effect' a while ago by tweaking the advanced picture settings on my TV.
I have just watched Vigil in UHD and it seems to be happening again - or is this just the 'look' of UHD?

Just tried it on my TV and it looks like normal film look (25fps) to me, so I think it’s your settings.

I wonder if iPlayer even supports high frame rate UHD?

Ah, good point. Not sure it’s been done on recorded programmes yet?

No, just standard 50p. HFR modes are 100p (120p in '60Hz' regions)

(You're not getting mixed up with HDR ?)

I meant HFR in the context of 50/60fps (as apposed to 24/25/30), which I think Brekkie meant too. After all, The Hobbit was refferred to as "HFR", and that was made in 48fps.

Ah, well 48 fps certainly is HFR for the Cinematograph industry.

I did mean 50fps… these acronyms are confusing sometimes.

Vigil in UHD on iPlayer is just regular 25p. TVs often have totally separate settings profiles when they switch into HDR mode, so you may find that your motion interpolation feature (whatever it's called on your brand of TV) is still enabled in that mode. Switch it off and you should be sorted! Smile
