Top Gear on the move
#1
The production of Top Gear will relocate to Bristol from Spring 2022 although the track and studio recordings will remain at Dunsfold Aerodrome.

Seems an appropriate fit with the Natural History Unit.

This practise of relocating everything that isn't glued down outside of London is starting to get a bit much isn't it

Dunno, what makes you think that?

The only issues I can foresee with this are:

1. The presenters leaving - which would be bad, as they have the mix right now
2. Celebs not wanting to turn up for Star in a Car - which would be fine since they had to drop it for COVID and the show's better off without it IMO

As they are still filming at Dunsfold, neither should be an issue.

Oh so it's literally just the production offices moving? I took it to mean they'd only be filming there for the track.

Personally thinking it very apt that Top Gear moves back to the regions bearing in mind that the original Top Gear was made for many years out of Pebble Mill.

It did move to London from Birmingham in the first place.

Presumably the reason it's moving now is because its based in the Broadcast Centre (they used to have a Stig in the window so it was obvious where) and the BBC are leaving the building.

In terms of on-screen 'talent' they'll go wherever the filming is taking place, be that Dunsfold or any location they are making a film. I don't think all the presenters live in London/the London area anyway so it won't make a difference to them.

Where it might make a difference is if there's a significant change in production team because a lot of them don't want to relocate. The crews they use won't change but those whose full time jobs are on the programme probably will. That said I don't know how much of a turnover they have and I don't think they'll be many left from the Clarkson days, so possibly continuity of producers might not be that important
