Seems that the rumours of a tight highly restricted test of 4K on this platform had some traction. Seemingly plans are afoot to add 4K AND HDR to the platform via BOOST.

Based on past performance I'd expect nothing before 2023 at the earliest. Some quotes here ...

Big changes to NOW from July 15th.

Cinema Membership reduced to £9.99pm.
Kids is merging with Entertainment. (Existing Ent customers can access kids membership content now)
Boost increases from £3-£5pm. (Rumour that existing customers will stay on £3pm)
Standard users will be able to use one device only to stream and will see commercials on all devices using Cinema and Entertainment.
Three device swaps per month axed for removing the least used device when a new one is added without having to contact Live Chat or manually change devices online.

That's right, it's going back into the Entertainment Membership. The reason for it splitting was that customers who only use it to keep the kids entertained didn't have to pay for premium content. But with Ent losing channels like Fox and Nat Geo in the near future, it raises the value of that membership.

The biggest changes for customers will be seeing commercials on their SVoD content if they don't have Boost.

I'm likely due to cancel Entertainment next month or so, so the news extra ads are coming to it gives me the perfect justification. Only holding out for Brassic really but can't see it coming out before the autumn now.

It maybe possible that they merged the Entertainment and Kids memberships to mitigate the loss of Fox at the end of the month, and the possible closure of National Geographic. Those with the Kids membership are also likely to have the Entertainment membership, it is the base package on BT TV after all.

I think the main thing is the loss of a few kids channels making it unviable as a package in it's own right. I think Sky pretty much protected themselves against the loss of general entertainment channels with the expansion of Sky branded channels over the last couple of years (from 3 to 9 I think).

I did cancel last night and then got six months at £4.99/month, which was worth taking up. Really though the Cinema+Entertainment in HD and ad free coming to nearly £25 just does not compare favourably at all with Netflix, Amazon and Disney+ which range from £7.99 to £13.99 a month.

It's worth cancelling Boost during the trial. I'm currently paying £1pm for it instead of £3.

On one hand it makes sense for Discovery to leave NOW, as they have their own streaming platform rather than promoting your channel on someone else’s platform. But on the other hand Discovery+ is available on Sky along with the rest of their channels. It makes more sense now why the kids channels were moved to the entertainment pack.
