It’s just been announced that Joel Dommett will be the host of the NTA’s this year.
That’s after David Walliams proved a flop presenting last years awards with a very cringy performance including getting booed after a joke about Caroline Flack just weeks before her death.
I’m very glad they dropped David after the shambles last year. I’m glad they’ve gone for Joel. A natural fit for the role after Dermot now Joel’s becoming ITV’s newest upcoming go-to face.

He seems like a great choice after his success on the Masked Singer.
A sound choice I think. It really elevates him and that in turn benefits ITV too.
Coincidental as he's compared himself to Dermot O'Leary in today's Mirror, in that nobody loves him and nobody hates him.
I find that a little presumptuous, but never mind. They could've picked worse I suppose.
I take it Sir Trev wasn't free?

Well that is some good news. Joel is a very capable presenter to take on a big awards show like the NTAs. He has been very good at presenting Hey Tracey, The Masked Singer and when he did his own TV show from home during the pandemic. I hope this new gig goes well for him.
The NTAs online voting longlist will begin on the 25th of May. The live TV ceremony will be on ITV on the 9th of September.

A safe pair of hands. Would like to see him do the Brits.

I’m glad Sir Trevor was used to introduce that montage, it gave some gravitas to the situation; what a brilliant montage it was too.
I enjoyed hearing the pre 2008 music, and I’m dislike the fact that they’ve gone back to using the Bruno Mars track (or what sounds like it) for other links.
Also a question about direction, is there a reason that they cut to other people in the audience for reaction during acceptance speeches and when walking to the stage? I’m unsure if other awards do this (unless to gather reaction from a specific mention), but it sometimes takes away from the action a little.
