BritBox SVOD

I've just noticed a new advert for BritBox on ITV2 which includes an amended logo, animation, tag line and marketing theme.

The advert I saw revolved around a talking bust of Shakespeare.

I've uploaded the advert to YouTube, but I don't know how long it will remain there as ITV can sometimes remove their content quite quickly. I notice that the BritBox website doesn't yet use the amended logo.

That feels to me like an advert which was made for the US version of Britbox but somehow has made it over here. The bouncing Shakespeare bust in particular feels like it's something playing on American stereotypes of Britain, doesn't feel like something that would be used for an advert specifically made for the UK market.

Got to agree this is certainly aimed at the states. It is like one of those American TV episodes where they try to portray the Brits and never do it well.

New logo or just a stacked version of it?

I was thinking more of the 3D effect box surround and the animation, rather than just the stacked logo.

Let's see if it appears on the UK website or ITV ECPs anytime soon.

It even has the line "those Brits have been making film and telly since Hollywood was invented". Why would we refer to ourselves in the third person?

It's now the profile picture on the UK social media pages.

This is presumably just a British Campaign as the US and Canada page is still using the branding they've always had (white, with shadow)

The logo may be UK only, but the rest of the ad still sticks out as if it's something made for the US. Not exactly hard for them to take an ad made for the US and put the new UK logo at the end of it.

BritBox is adding more archive material in July, notably with episodes of General Hospital, Classic Casualty, Take the High Road, Brookside and Crossroads arriving to the platform.

Seems to have gone down very very well for Crossroads fans on social media. Yes, a lot of ATV stuff has been lost but I think the content from Central will get some following if they expand like they have with Corrie/Emmerdale Farm.

Sounds like 10 ATV episodes will kick off the content with the events of November 1981 taking centre stage. Is that the motel on fire?!?! ?

When DVDs of ATV Crossroads are selling for hundreds of pounds - clearly there's a market.

Finally we're getting Brookside and classic Casualty! Hoping Waterloo Road is next.

Is it Brookside from episode 1 in order, or just select episodes? I'd love the former.

All series of Waterloo Road are on iPlayer.

Hoping it will be in order of episodes starting with the first. Would make more sense.

The select episodes idea will probably involve major storylines and/or character kill-offs like the one where that mom and her baby fell off the scaffolding, only to reveal that Barry Grant was the one who killed them.

His actor Paul Usher's a legend imo mainly cos of him being in The Bill as Des.
Hoping BritBox adds both The Bill and London's Burning if UKTV gets bored of those shows.
