Have you ever appeared on Television?
#1
We all like to discuss television in its many forms but I'm curious to know if anyone on here has appeared on TV whether it be an appearance on the news to a contestant on a gameshow and what the experience was like.

Sadly I've not appeared on TV myself although I have applied for a few shows but I do have family friends and relations who have appeared on shows like Pointless and my Mum was interviewed as one of those talking heads that you see on local news reports years ago.

Only accidentally... the perils of working in live entertainment TV and wide shots.

Somebody I went to school with (who is now sadly deceased) claimed to have been in the audience for Gladiators, pre 1996. Whether this was said for whatever the 90s equivalent of school kudos was, I don't know (and as they are now no longer around I will never know)

I spent a morning with Mike McClean and Mounya on Nickelodeon’s Nick AM during the half term of May 1998. I got to see the gallery which they did a live link with me talking to the Bogey puppet when they were still at Rathbone Place. During the whole link I’m clearly looking at Bogey’s operator rather than the puppet. They even let me put the purple phone bug on screen as it was also ‘Watch Your Own Week’ so you could start voting for the next show.

When I was about 7, one morning a van carrying flammable gas or something exploded in my village, and I happened to be helping my mum run errands later that day, her weaving in and out trying to avoid being approached by the reporters for a comment. Watching the news that night (North East Tonight as it was known then), the report ended with a wide shot of us two holding hands walking along one of the main commercial streets. I leapt up at the TV with pure excitement! First and only time I've been on TV, at least to my knowledge.

I was interviewed on Channel 4 News about being on the then New Deal Employment scheme.

Otherwise I've been spotted in the audience of The Wright Stuff and Martin Lewis when he did a show on Channel 5.

I've appeared on YLE in Finland, complete with suit. Does that count?

I was also interviewed, whilst wearing that suit, for KAN News. I had no idea until every Israeli in a 5 mile radius wanted a selfie...

By virue of doing some install work at BBC Millbank and ITN GIR the same week, I did manage to be in shot on all five channels during that week, (even if I was a tiny out of focus blob on some channels)

I might have been on camera during a baseball game or two whenever a home run came in my general direction. Otherwise I haven't as far as I know.

I think two of the things I sent into Blue Peter were shown on the show when I was 8 or 9.

When I was in year 4, ITV News came to do a report in my school and I was in it. I'm not sure if it's online though.

I did have my face on 4Music for a week during the earlier days of Trending Live when the 'Tweeter of the Week' was a thing.

Might've appeared in a few Robot Wars episodes in the crowd (the reboot, not the good original) but those'll probably be lost in the canals of the BBC archives. That, or fallen in the chute.
Also known as "Allanbuzzy" on other places.

I was the audience member who solved a Countdown conundrum when neither contestant got it once. Got a mug for doing so, which sadly will never happen again as it appears Countdown will be scraping the audience even after CoVid restrictions are over.

Otherwise, been interviewed twice on local news, once about football, the other to give publicity for a charity event I was supporting, and been in a wide crowd shot during an episode of Live and Kicking.

I've been a 'talking head' on a BBC Northern Ireland documentary series about the history of local TV.

I've also been in the Top of the Pops audience twice, and I was also part of an impromptu audience for an outdoor segment of This Morning on the South Bank.
