20th anniversary of both cbbc Channel and SNT

Next year Is the 20th anniversary of both the cbbc channel and Saturday night takeaway. How would people like them to celibate the milestone?

For CBBC, an Old Skool weekend like CITV's in 2013 would be amazing - failing that, some more classic shows uploaded to the iPlayer would be great too.

For the 10th anniversary CBBC did a live show thing if I remember correctly. CBeebies showed a few classic programmes like Brum as well, but there weren’t many.

You’d hope both channels would dip back into the archive, but especially for CBeebies I see it as unlikely.

It’s probably more suitable for iPlayer though? These channels are aimed at kids, who just want to watch their favourite shows, not some old has beens!

I could see the CBBC channel doing a retrospective on their 20th anniversary and I could definitely see Saturday Night Takeaway doing an all-star TV special along with bringing back the team format for Ant vs. Dec.

You might see a retrospective on the CBBC channel again, but I suspect that kind of thing may be reserved for the anniversaries of the block itself rather than the channel.

I don't think we'll see retro shows on the channel - after all, it's a channel for kids and the relevancy of older shows is diminished when you look at kids TV today. That said, with BBC Four becoming an archive channel then maybe there's a place for older kids shows to appear on there?

BBC Four is unlikely to have a kids block anytime soon. Would be a bit weird to have an upmarket channel have that have sort of programming.

They did one in 2015 as well, they showed an episode of Blue Peter, Newsround, Grange Hill and I think Play School as well.

Well if they're marking 20 years at best it would be shows from the last 20 years. No point marking an anniversary a channel with shows from before the channel existed.

As for CBeebies - the only way to mark that is with a primetime Boogie Beebies marathon on BBC1, presented by Jimmy Cricket.

Some older shows like Come Outside or even Balamory could still be "relevant" today, and today's children may very well find them as interesting as I did when I was younger and watching them on BBC2 analogue (our household did not move to digital until the bitter end, and by then I had moved on to CBBC)

I think what's holding the older shows back is that they're not in HD - what I've found from watching clips of shows such as Yes, Minister etc etc on YouTube is that if the content is interesting, and I can understand what's going on, I am very happy with 360p or even 240p videos.
