For the current 4Music stream you’ll have to go to the Box Hits page.
Just a guy who’s interested in TV Pres.

Posts like this really must stop, and I'm speaking to everyone here, not just JAS84.
Oh and JAS84, the word PLEASE comes in really useful...
If it hasn't been fixed, it will be. In time.
Will there now be two 4Musics listed on the Barb site (one the old channel that turned into E4 Extra and the other the new one that replaced Box Hits?) I wonder?

Seems like Box Plus (Channel 4) have cut the old 4Music (E4 Extra) feed on the Box Plus streaming website, you'll load the page fine but the stream does not work.
The Box Plus Network |
Originally, since the operational reorganisation, E4 Extra broadcasted without any "UNAVAILABLE FOR STREAMING" slide for a few weeks, while the URL for the current 4Music (which is still Box Hits, even though on the page it says "4Music", even weeks beyond) broadcasted on Box Hits' former space.
Now, it seems that if you want to watch E4 Extra, it's having a television or nothing, which in an age where streaming is becoming more and more of a prevalent medium (the press release for E4 Extra literally mentions how "streaming fans will now have an even broader offer"), it's baffling how we still have this issue where TV channels still don't have an official streaming platform for viewers, much of a bigger case as to why Freeview should go IP.
There is a viable reason why e4 extra isn't on all4, it's not needed. E4 extra is just there to accommodate what can't be scheduled on the main e4 channel. If you want to watch something from e4 extra, it's already there on all4 in the e4 section, e4 extra and is supposed to be a linear only service

Not necessarily. Doesn't E4 Extra have some shows that haven't already aired on E4? Those would NOT be on All4 already. Also, are shows available indefinitely, or is there a time limit? Because that would also result in shows on Extra not being on All4, if they haven't aired on the main E4 recently.
Ninja Warrior Japan is not available to watch on-demand on All4.

In fact, some of the shows that are broadcast on E4 Extra aren't even on All4. I was immensely disappointed when I looked up Ninja Warrior Japan, saw that it was listed as an "E4" show, but turns out it was unavailable on All4. Same with Malcolm in the Middle, although arguably understandable given that it and Scrubs are both on Disney+ anyway, so it doesn't necessarily need to be on All4 in the first place.
It just annoys me, not because I would ever watch E4 Extra since it's mostly just repeats of shows that have long since ended and/or filler they couldn't fit into the main E4 channel, but because of their wording in the press release to specifically target the audience they've otherwise already lost to the streamers. When E4 Extra launched, I was sort of expecting them to add a new tile on the "Watch Live" section but I suppose you're only offering the channel to viewers who still have a bloody TV. Ugh.
Luring me with Ninja Warrior Japan... shaking my head.
I think its quite nice to see 4Music back as a full time music channel like the old days of its existence when it took over from The Hits

“Still”? Are people who own actual TVs in the minority now?

TV and streaming are two different things, and the rights to broadcast a programme on TV do not necessarily entitle a company to stream it on the internet as well. Particularly in the case of older programmes (such as those which inevitably turn up on 'spin-off' channels like E4 Extra) it's entirely possible that the streaming rights were simply not negotiated at the time that the series licence was originally agreed, and are not available now, or are just not worthwhile to acquire for the remaining few years that a programme is left in licence.

That doesn't explain Ninja Warrior, as that's a new acquisition.

By the way, All4 has changed from unavailable to Coming Soon for Ninja Warrior Japan.
