They're both women and that trumps regionality; ITV guidelines

But then it was back to the old titles and logo at the end of the bulletin!

Yes, someone’s loaded the wrong ones there but fun to have a glimpse!
Prefer the end title card - but the text in the box is just way too small:

The boxed logo really does look awful, and think here the BBC logo would be better top middle as elsewhere, though the programme name should remain in the middle rather than dropping to the bottom.

I'd rather the regions stick to what they use now instead of the bodge job they did with the short opening titles tonight. As Brekkie mentions, the box is quite frankly awful.
Yet again, the BBC and consistency with branding has never been a strong point.

I'm surprised at both the continued use of the red box in any form, and also its move from bottom-centre to the corner.
I had assumed that the Chameleon-era revision for news title sequences would put the "BBC" boxes top-centre and "NEWS" bottom-centre (as per everything else), so it would essentially read like e.g. "BBC Points West NEWS" etc.
MISLEADING HEADLINE "MAKES YOU READ ARTICLE", SAYS NAKED MILEY CYRUS.

Until the Titles and the broader brand is updated - the new logo kinda has to fit with the existing animations and titles - so bottom left is the space assigned for that for now.

An all female line up on Calendar tonight with Sally Simpson hosting alongside Lara tonight.
Jon Mitchell has announced he's retiring from Calendar in July.

I’ve been lucky to have had a few of my photos featured by him on screen over the years, and he’s always thanked me on Twitter for submitting them. I also enjoyed his occasional appearances on Meet The Richardsons when he’d always end up being the preferred celebrity to John Richardson for local appearances. I also see Chris Mason is a fan… https://twitter.com/chrismasonbbc/status...PzVmy9KCrw I wonder who’ll replace Jon. Kerry Gosney has been the second weather presenter in Leeds for a while, so she might step up into the lead role. Although I wouldn’t be surprised if we end up with more forecasts from Salford.

Shame about Jon retiring, it now means that Duncan is now the 'oldie' of Calendar having been there since 2003. Also, I agree with Spencer that we might have more forecasts from Salford, but I would like to see Kerrie replace Jon.

Yeah I never thought that would be the case as I remember Duncan Wood as far back presenting the sport on Tyne tees television.

On Twitter anyone who is anyone in the world of weather or regional Telly has been sending their best wishes.
I can’t keep up with the retirements at the moment |
