Wales did it's own, introducing it as "Clive Myrie with the latest BBC News" rather than the News at Six (and no mention of Wales Today).

We know what an explosion and loss of life means without seeing the dead bodies. I know they want to show the harsh reality of the situation but people seeing these images at 1:42pm ET is not appropriate in my view.

I appreciate they are a cable channel and not a broadcast network but still...

Anyway, quite unusual to see Anderson Cooper at that time of day.

Once next Tuesday comes, I suppose Western journalists will have to have left Afghanistan too - possibly to neighbouring countries?

If you'll forgive me for two posts in a row (and replying to myself!), I see that Sky's Stewart Ramsay is out of Afghanistan now and in Doha (this happened before today's suicide bombing). At the weekend, CNN's Clarissa Ward returned to her home country of France.

I’m very surprised CNN seems to have pulled out all its teams. Sam Kiley seems the nearest and he’s now in Doha.

Lyse Doucet seems to have just managed to make it in. Heavens knows how anyone else will get in given today’s horrific developments.

I'm limiting myself to watching news coverage on this major story about Afghanistan for now on RTÉ News & Virgin Media News in Ireland. I also get late night access to both Euronews & France 24 via simulcasts on RTÉ & TG4 via Saorview. I cannot get access to the other news channels on Satellite at the moment because it is suffering from a fault outside my home since last Thursday. All TV channels on my Satellite dish have now got broken picture & audio on them. I cannot get the opportunity to watch the news channels at all until I get the dish repaired by a TV installer.

I did see some live TV coverage from Lauren Taylor from Al Jazeera English's London studio last week. That coverage and analysis at that time which included the 1st official response after Joe Biden announced his troubled exit plan the region was excellent. I also seen Yalda Hakim's interview with the Taiban spokesman on the BBC News website over the weekend as well. I have never seen this lady present news bulletins or conduct interviews on BBC News before. However; I thought she was very professional while she got that interview last weekend.

I want to ask you guys does France 24 have more up to date news coverage on this story when compared to Euronews?

Euronews is mostly repeats if i'm not mistaken and I don't ever recall them being that strong in breaking news due to their format. France24 has a bulletin every half-hour and does rolling coverage when needed.

Not ‘TV’, but sounded like Lyse was close to tears when talking about the plight of Afghans on PM on Radio 4 this afternoon. Heartbreaking stuff and reporting that really connected.

I've always liked Lyse Doucet and she is especially good when presenting and reporting on location from some warzone or another. For many years in the late 90s/early 2000s, she was a studio-based relief presenter on BBC World and I always loved her style but you could tell she wanted to be out in the field instead.

My first memory of Lyse presenting from somewhere on location was in the aftermath of 9/11. As the "War on Terror" in Afghanistan got underway in September 2001, she used to present regular BBC News Specials on both News 24 and World from the region. It's quite ironic that 20 years later she's doing the same again - things have certainly come full circle.
