Protestors at ITN Headquarters
#46
I was hoping to see a few Father Ted style banners, you know - ‘Down with this sort of thing’.

Not mentioned in the ITV London headlines. They may well not want to give them publicity. I’m not sure if any of the staff who had to deal with this were directly employed by ITN but if they are they should put up an “ITN” caption at the end to recognise them rather than the small text at the bottom.

I was more interested in the background sign of locations of different companies within the building.

Was it designed by local primary school children? :?
Didn't realise TRT World were based there - do they have a studio in the building?

No mention of this on the BBC News website. Wonder why?

Most their protests are given very little publicity by the media, which in turn leads them to believe the media don't have any respect for people protesting against a life saving vaccine or measures designed to protect lives.

This is a very worrying development. We can be grateful that no-one was hurt but ITV have been hit along with the BBC and RTE :?:

Most protests don't get covered by the media. There have been lots of (more legimate) protests outside Broadcasting House over the last 10 years and they rarely get a mention. The problem is how does a broadcaster like the BBC decide which to cover and which not to? They've either got to mention them all or none at all, it's easier to go for the former, and it discourages more happening

A brief mention of the ITN protest in Sky News at Ten.

ITV London covered the XR protest which was interesting considering they didn't cover this protest at all.

I hadn't realised that Warner Bros had offices at 200 Gray's Inn Road, I know they have a HQ in Holborn as I've walked past it.

Also, having been in a building while a protest like this has been going on, I'm not sure "staff had to go in through the back door and couldn't go out to get a toastie at lunchtime, but otherwise continued as usual" is the most compelling news story, to be honest.

LBC are discussing the ITN protest right now

Here is The Guardian's take on the story:

It would be different if they'd made it to a studio that was on air, but realistically they created a lot of noise in the reception area. I do wonder if there sometimes the media choose not to cover most protests because it just encourages repetition or if there's simply not a viewer appetite for it (would Mrs Miggins of Jarrow care that Hugo and his Jeffrey mates decided today was the day they'd protest about things they know nothing about and probably don't really care about?)

Interesting choice of venue from rent-a-mob. I think it's worrying that they made it into the building in the first place, and I've no doubt ITN will increase their security awareness training and policies in future.

Will also be interesting to see how the MPS handle it; there are offences of aggravated trespass made out in the footage (the fact staff couldn't go about their lawful business) - will they go to the effort of downloading card transactions from the coffee shop? Is it worth the collateral intrusion, I'm not so sure.

The question is, did they actually get into ITN? From the video footage it seems not. The area they are having scuffles with the police in is the 200 GIR reception area which is public anyway. I seem to recall you have to have a valid ID card in order to actually get onto the atrium, let alone to within ITN itself. On my visits, it's always struck me how you can't go a couple of yards at ITN without having to swipe through one door or another. Even if by some miracle they had found their way into ITN, I suspect Channel 4's studio would have been the easiest for them to notice. The rest of them are pretty well disguised really if you didn't know what you were looking for and it's a bit of a rabbit warren down in the bowels of ITN anyway.
