KIKA is a channel that is owned by both ARD and ZDF, but I didn't know that the News on that channel was a sole responsibility of ZDF

Hi I think they are to control the talkback, sometimes you can see a similar unit on the BBC News Channel in some shots.Might be completely wrong though.

EDIT:Excuse the dodgy screenshot of a google translate. So Talkback and a self censoring cough button.

It was from this site as posted earlier in the forum by BBI45 : https://3d.zdf.de/nachrichten-studio-design/

I see I see! Thank you for that. That would make sense. So similar to the little box beside the anchor chair in the BBC News studio but obviously not built in?

I remember them having similar buttons on the old ZDF heute desk. They were very nicely blended in as well.

It is more of a historic thing. logo! was launched by ZDF in the runup of the fall of the Berlin Wall to provide news about the unfolding situation in Eastern Europe in a way it was supposed to be easy to unterstand for children (exactly like Newsround and the NOS Jeugdjournaal has done for a long time), however, it was so successful that it was made permanent. In 1997, when KiKA launched, the programme moved to the channel, but ZDF aired a rebroadcast during its afterschool children’s block, this was dropped by 2010 due to the fact the digital switchover had made such rebroadcast redundant.

ZDF's frontal, a political magazine show formerly called frontal21 after its timeslot of 9pm, also got a new look and studio today.

That's quite clever. I was a bit surprised around 40 seconds into the clip: "Oh, that's a screen!"

There was a slight hiccup with the new camera robot on Monday. Seems like it was adjusted for a taller presenter and had to be manually corrected:

A bit less than two months after the last topic, but it is related to this. heute-journal anchorman Claus Kleber is retiring. His last newscast will air on December 30. In the New Year, Christian Sievers will be replacing him as one of the two rotating main presenters (alongside Marietta Slomka); Sievers had already presented heute-journal as a main relief presenter. As a result, Sievers will stop presenting the evening heute broadcast as one of three rotating presenters, with its final broadcast on the main edition on September 30. He will be replaced by Mitri Sirin, currently anchor of the main portion of ZDF's moma. Sirin, a Turkish-German presenter, debuts October 11, and will rotate with Jana Pareigis and Barbara Hahlweg.
