Thoughts on current STV presentation? For a look that's been on air pretty much untouched since 2014 it feels like it's long overdue an overhaul.
Looking at the previous set of idents used prior to the current look, I much preferred them - they had much more of a Scottish identity to them than the current bunch.
The current presentation, although fairly inoffensive, isn't really going to set the world on fire. Their take on "STV creates" would be interesting but I suspect that comes too close to planting ideas in ITV plc's head

They could bring the house style in line with ITV's, which is something both they and UTV briefly did in the Celeb Idents era IIRC.
But I think an ITV Plc acquisition is a question of "when" not "if." Even if they have to throw in some major commitments to placate Mrs S & Co, the economies of scale will be too good to resist.
STV is in desperate need of a revamp. The 3D style graphics used on the channel and within the STV News feel old and outdated. The ECS are clunky. The idents are just poor... the soap style idents are shockingly bad. STV News is also in need of a revamp. the titles are sets are very unimaginative. The sets in particular are dull and boring. As you can see, i'm not a big fan of the current presentation. Although I have a feeling we're gonna be stuck with this look for a while yet.
Unless STV gets sold to ITV plc then I don’t see a revamp anytime soon

I'm grateful that there are two ITV franchises which look nothing like the other franchises across the country.

but does anyone benefit from that? In the streaming age I'd argue it muddies the waters. In Scotland you need an STV Player and and ITV Hub. to stream all programmes.
Maybe one day STV Group PLC will try and make a takeover of ITV PLC? Considering ITV are/were crying at OFCOM about its PSB commitments maybe they will think sod it with the channel 3 commitments, sell up/takeover by STV and take what's left of ITV and it's digital channels without the PSB elsewhere?
I don't think we can take it for granted that STV will definitely no ifs ands or buts WILL be taken over by ITV. Especially with Scotland's future within or out of the UK (but let's NOT discuss politics here ah!)
If anything I can see the ITV/Channel 3 network going the other way with a distinctive UTV and Welsh service being brought back in to join the distinctive Scottish STV service for Scotland.
As for the STV branding, yes it's currently ident package is very dated...I don't tune into STV on 'other channels' very often, but on the rare occasions I constantly see on every single break/junction/moment "S T V dot TV slash whatever" and "STV Player" promos. It's worse than the constant Britbox ads ITV/UTV always show at every opportunity.
"From today you'll hear some new voices when you're watching UTV, as for the time being we're handing over to our colleagues at ITV, but rest assured Julian and I will be back with you as soon as possible"

Given the opt-out programming STV have to offer, I don't think too many viewers would be bothered by a takeover by ITV.
Will they wait till itv does something because they now both show ideal world in the same slot and the unwind thing is also common so possibly
Looks like Ideal World now have a slot on STV. Presenter likes to mention it every 5 seconds. What was showing before?
