Likewise perfectly possible to have a Microsoft account without an Hotmail/Outlook account. Never mind what the blurb says.
Sure it was possible too to have AIM/MSN/Yahoo account without the respective email providers as well, back when instant messaging was split across umpteen different apps too.

Yes, I used MSN and AOL with a Yahoo email.
