BBC Four: 2021 Rebrand

Agreed, that's already one of the most discreet DOGs I've ever seen. I'd go as far as to say when it blends in that much, it seems a bit ridiculous and pointless. They clearly liked it how it was before otherwise they wouldn't have made it like that. Why keep it but make it blend in so much that you can barely see it most of the time? What purpose does it serve then?
I'm a bit confused as to people are talking about the old DOG or the new one? After several alterations over the years, the old one had indeed ended up small and discreet, but the new one was anything but. Thankfully it has now been reduced in intensity, but the word FOUR is still far too large. Apart from its intrusiveness, as others have said, the large letters next to small boxes make for a displeasing logo. If BBC Scotland can have letters that are the same height as the boxes, then I see no reason why BBC Four (and BBC Three) shouldn't be the same.

And just as an aside, why are BBC Scotland and BBC Alba's DOGs on the right hand side when it's usual BBC convention to place them top left?

Both the BBC Scotland DOG and the Alba DOG are top right because the channels carry live sport and sport graphics are left of screen, would cause a constant overlay and look messy. Keeping them on the right keeps them out the way.

ITV manage to move theirs around to suit without too much effort.

But then they’re ITV who can also manage a rebrand in less than a year.

Moving it around seems messy. By keeping it top right, it creates a uniform approach.

Really don’t think it matters.

It may be less about being “messy” or uniformity and more about the hassle of moving it any time they broadcast sports programming. It becomes someone’s role and responsibility to move it. And even if it’s as simple as pre-programming a switch, it would inevitably be forgotten at some point, remaining on the left with the sports graphics underneath and causing an uproar from viewers (and posters on this forum!)

I don’t think the bbc know about a uniform approach.
I always presumed it was due to Scotland and Alba showing the news and a left aligned DOG would interfere with the Live bug which is usually top left also.
Don’t know what happened at the end of the TOTP 1991 Christmas episode, but there was an advert ( just an end board type ) for a Freddie Mercury programme on BBC Sounds and the BBC didn’t “ bounce “ up to the top of the screen but just sat over the “ SOUNDS “

Seems like something cocked up on Four here, the anno seems like it was cut off by the programme, although that might be normal.
Additionally did something air from 7-7:10? I see no junction on TV Home.

According to the EPG, Coast was the programme aired from 7pm to 7:10pm. I don't know why TV Home never managed to capture that junction.

I figured it was Coast, they always use the BBC Two filler to start when they have time to kill.
