BBC Four: 2021 Rebrand
All the BBC channels that had DOGs were all Gill Sans (bar CBBC and CBeebies) on screen. News 24, BBC Choice, BBC Knowledge, their replacements Three and Four, even the digital channels BBC One and maybe Two had Gill Sans DOGs too (until they were snowed under with complaints and had to remove them).

Don't think that BBC Three Gill Sans dog lasted more than a couple of years before somebody thought the DOG should probably look more like the logo on the blob idents.
Yes, I've got it noted that it was changed to be the same as the channel's logo on 5th August 2005, with this very bright, intrusive DOG:

Even Rose and the Doctor couldn't stand it!

It lasted like that for just three days before being reduced in brightness, and then another two days later was reduced in size:

As for the BBC Four DOG, I've looked at some old recordings, and it has shifted position a number of times, but I would say it was at its most prominent, and positioned the furthest into the picture, between about 2006/07 until late 2015. It wasn't until early 2017 that it became very faint and tucked right into the corner.

The SD version isn't on Virgin though, so no option but to use the HD channel!

I already commented on it a few pages back, but that's a better photo to show how bright it really was (despite how small it actually is).

Compared to BBC Four, they must've treated the BBC Three audience like slobs who couldn't be bothered to lift their eyes a few CMs up to see what channel they were watching.

Actually, didn't "The News Show" mock the outcry? I seen in the final edition of the show, they were zooming out of a giant "THREE" logo in one of the clips.
Also known as "Allanbuzzy" on other places.

Indeed it was, though by the time that DOG had been used (2005), the bulletin had became the 7 O'Clock News.

Of course if the DOGs were bottom right as in the US, and in this case 16:9 safe rather than 4:3, they'd have probably got away with it more.

The Gill Sans BBC Two DOG predates digital, it appeared most nights for a long time after too:

Well it looks like somebody finally noticed.
The DOG has run out of battery and is dimmer than it was before. And seems to be slightly narrower too! Wonders will never cease.

Picture I posted on the first day of the relaunch earlier in the thread:

Picture I just quickly took off the iPlayer today:

Much better IMO.
Yep, the transparency now matches the previous DOG (with old blocks). Although transparency of the new DOG wasn't that bad (e.g it disappeared during detailed scenes) the size of it made it standout. However it does look much better now.
I hugely dislike the "FOUR" etc parts of the channel DOGs being taller than the height of the blocks.

Either the blocks should be a tad bigger, and/or the FOUR slightly smaller, so that the height of the whole thing is uniform. Ditto for e.g. the BBC Scotland channel and whatever else.

(DOG size might be deceptive on a 4:3 programme)
Well, this is a start. But it could be a lot smaller and better proportioned.

It's already miniscule.
Wonderfully weird.
It’s far far too big. I like the channel name being bigger than the blocks for idents, promotions etc, but for a DOG it’s too jarring.

Miniscule? Are we looking at the same channel?
