I'm still wondering why the blithering flip the 07:55 regional bulletin has remained absent ever since the rest of the regional Breakfast bulletins were reinstated, following the original period of suspension.

Has this ever been officially explained by Auntie Beeb?

I think [mention]Steve Williams[/mention] suggested it was because the daily ministerial interview after 07:30 risks an overrun, so for the time being the 07:55 has been ditched ?

Are these really lowly staffed compared to the GMB bulletins, or is it a case of local radio being prioritised? If either side were to pull them you'd expect it would be ITV.

Watching the Meridian bulletins on GMB, you kind of get the feeling they are very 'economically' produced.
That said it's the same presenter for both sub regions, so the team will be busy rehearsing and recording, between the live bulletin slots.

I did, although that's just a guess - it is a bit of a tight half hour as that interview can go on for a good ten or fifteen minutes.

"It hoped to be able to restart morning local news from September." Hope at the BBC? That's as good as axed as part of cost-cutting measures.

That is also a guess, and not I think a particularly accurate one.

Zero attempt to give Olympic Breakfast any kind of "proper" start (title sequence etc).

They simply pulled out of the cycling coverage that was part of the overnight programme and went back to the studio at about 05:59. Dan Walker saying the words "Welcome to Olympic Breakfast" was as much of a "start" as it got. It was still not *quite* 06:00 yet, when he said it.

Apart from being peppered with the occasional throw to Naga Munchetty on the sofa in the usual Breakfast studio for a quick round up of the day's news, it's otherwise indistinguishable from the rest of the rolling Olympic coverage in which it sits.

I know it can't be helped because of the nature of the on-screen information for different events, but the way the UK / Japan clock keeps flipping from side to side, and momentarily vanishing from the lower thirds, is annoying.

Glad it's more Olympic than Breakfast though - seemed to be a bulletin at 6am and 8am with Naga from what I saw.

Yes. I think they used the name right up until their demise in 2018? Clearly no one from the IOC ever took a trip down the A303

I'm attempting to resist the urge to say 'I told you so' but I have been saying for the last few weeks that Olympic Breakfast wasn't going to be like the show we saw during London or Rio due to the time difference, even with Beijing's Olympic Breakfast show in 2008 they were able to cram some news in at the start before the events took over.

There hasn't been a title sequence for any of the slots (Dan/Sam, now Hazel) since the handover from BBC One to JJ Chalmers at 00:10 because of all the live events taking place - remember Japan is 9 hours ahead of us, so right now it's already the evening of Day 1 over there.

There might be difference on a slightly quieter days, maybe with a bit more news, but this is how things will be for the next 16 days

Well we are getting bbc world news but with the newsroom background which makes studio c claustrophobic and dark, if it was meant to provide a service for people wanting the news rather then Olympic breakfast they should have at least opted for the normal London background, which at least would have looked vaguely like breakfasts backdrop.

I dont believe world use the London backdrop anymore.
Most of their viewers are global therefore I dont see why they should make any special allowances just because its breakfast time in the UK
