I think the only person who could do it justice is Stephen Mulhern, (I never used to be a fan), but I think that’s unlikely whilst SNT is still going and he’s very much an ITV face.
I think the other interesting thing is the Generation Game basically morphed into a House Party clone combined with some sort bizarre sketch show after NHP ended, even taking Mr Blobby.
I love this idea, In for a Penny is one of my favourite shows at the minute as it is Stephen Mulhern messing about with the public and also having a laugh at himself and think he could run House Party really well but can't see it happening anytime soon with all his ITV work and being on SNT unless ITV fancy bringing it back.

I'd suggest Saturday Night Takeaway whilst not a revival of House Party is certainly heavily inspired by it. Undercover ~ Gotcha, The Pandas ~ My Little Friend, SNT Presents ~ NHP S7 soaps. I suspect others could probably provide a few more examples.

From the original run "Home Run" was clearly inspired by NTV too - and a neat little twist on it, hijacking screens in venues to get people to come home. Presumably easier to do that with the digital delay factor than to use peoples televisions. Didn't they do a "Locked up with Beadle" feature too which was quite reminiscent of the "Your on your own" twist to NTV in it's final series.

“Banged up with Beadle”. Spitbank Fort in the Solent for 6 weeks, it was a feature within SNT.

Interesting the nhp30 blog mentions that in later years, victims of Gotcha were suspected of being chosen so that they could fill up extra airtime by performing on the show.
The one involving Status Quo was cleverly edited (well, nearly...), showing a crowd of Quo fans in rapturous applause that their idols were being stitched up when in reality Quo's manager David Walker (obviously in on the joke) had to rush onstage and calm down fans who were angry that they had taken time off work etc for yet another gimmick (under the pretence of it being a proper tribute programme to the band) in which Rossi and Parfitt were forced into doing just about anything in order to appear relevant.
Remember, this was in the same year that Quo tried to sue Radio 1 for not playing their music. If you read more into it then you'll find it wasn't all about that. So, yeah... everything about that Gotcha leaves a bitter taste. Indeed, Walker pleaded with fans by arguing it would be good for record sales. Returning to the original point, by total coincidence, Quo performed their latest single on the show, like many others no doubt.
As for the dodgy editing, if you listen closely just before Noel attempts to remove some cardboard cut-outs from the stage, you'll hear a fan saying, "it's a stunt".

Yes famously, and addressed in the GLR clip I posted above.Also of course subject of an urban myth about what else he did in front of the hidden camera.
This stems from his radio show the following Saturday where he and his then wife Carol Mcgiffen talked about the NTV hit. According to them they phoned Carol to let her know that the cameras were going on. She replied something along the lines of 'you can't turn them on yet as Baywatch is on and he'll be having a ****'

Not Gotcha’d no. But Nick Owen appeared on the show twice in series 6 (being gunged in one of them) so can’t have had too much against it.
The Status Quo Gotcha does cut off very quickly at the end, though I am intrigued how it can turn nasty from the ending standing ovation with Noel holding the Gotcha aloft…

I think those clips of Anne & Nick are taken slightly out of context anyway, they’re portrayed as being part of the downfall of the show, but the inclusion earlier in the programme suggests they were from much earlier on.
