Ukranian television channel Rudana has come off air, with a very large exclamation mark and announcement on a loop...

(Posted in the GMB thread but seems very much worth posting here also.)

Good Morning Britain's Richard Gaisford has posted this interesting behind the scenes look at the on-location filming in Kyiv and detailing the safety procedures in place.

"Good evening. Dull, grey, cold, miserable - and that's just me. The weather hasn't been great, either."

Think the BBC should do the same.

Most central TV channels of Ukraine are worked in enhanced mode. All TV channels from the Suspilne (public broadcaster) are broadcasting from UATongueershyi (and regional also). Starlight Media (except music channels M1 and M2) from ICTV. Pro-Moscovian Inter doesn't broadcast any special news reports, only Soviet films. Pro-government 1+1 channels are broadcasting, except child PlusPlus. Ukraina Media Group broadcast also on Futbol-branded channels (in this case on Futbol 3). On everything TV channels (except Inter and Suspilne) starts used near on-screen bug the title We are strong!

That's a good way to keep viewers updated without ditching the entire schedule. I know I'm usually the first to say channels should switch to rolling coverage but this is just so heartbreaking and so devastating sometimes a little bit less is more, so updates and then a couple of extended or extra bulletins is probably the way to go. As we've seen time and time before sometimes shows like This Morning covering events in a different way can be just as important as the news coverage.

I wonder if the BBC will be dispatching any main presenters out to Kyiv with the situation escalating this morning? Maybe Clive Myrie? Is Lyse Doucet the only BBC presenter/reporter out there?
As seen on BBC Newswatch

Think Clive Myrie is already out there, he did the News At Six from Ukraine yesterday.

London Lite post_id=69886 time= user_id=953 Wrote:While watching Sky News covering the UN emergency meeting, there was a male presenter (possibly Mark Stone) out of vision and then Sam Naz popped up at 3.25am.

Yes Sam Naz was on overnight, introduced that UN emergency meeting, including a live cross to Mark Stone from Washington. Sam spoke just after the 3am TOH to say they were sticking with that, but as you say, Mark then popped up a little into the hour to give some more details before Sam came back.

Schedule has been ditched as one would expect, Kamali Melbourne took over from Sam at around 3:45am and hosted until 5am when Mark Austin took over live from Kyiv and is still on air at the 10am hour. I’ve been dipping in and out of coverage but I’ve not seen Kay Burley this morning, has she appeared? I thought she might have at least provided some UK reaction or something to give Mark a breather.

I do wonder if Anna Botting has now went home? And if so, have Sky got a second anchor going to Ukraine?

Shout out to Sky’s Deborah Haynes as well who has provided some excellent commentary and details not just today/overnight but over the last few weeks too.

I agree that hourly updates is a decent decision also gives the flexibility to stay with itv news if there’s a major development or Boris Johnson’s statement/address, without having the pressure to fill airtime.
