Do you realise how rude you actually sound with some of the comments you are making? I work in the industry, I have been involved in some of the launch work for BBC Three. I am well outside of it's demographic however I am appreciating the channel launch and the fact that it is targeted to the age of the viewers that are watching.
The BBC Four announcers are the same as for BBC One and BBC Two as the channel is targeting the same age of audience. However, the announcers on BBC One and BBC Two do not present any programmes on CBBC or CBeebies. And there's a reason for that. Those channels have targeted presenters to appeal to the audience of those channels. The same is true of BBC Three - it is targeted at an audience age that will appreciate the younger demographic of announcer that is being used.
And for the record - I thought the opening announcement on the channel was absolutely perfect.

Don't Radio 1 and BBC 3 have the same or very similar target audience - ie people in their late teens/20s?

I'm not one of these people obsessed with Radio 1 presenter ages (unlike threads on other forums), but the re-launch of this youth channel feels quite safe being hosted by 37-year-old Clara and 36-year-old Greg. They're hardly fresh-faced new young talent.

That said, the channel is a lot more than just the launch show, so I hope the content hits the target demo - and fair play to the BBC for bringing it back.

I hope it retains a decent budget for the next few years at least.

It probably won't cost much more having someone new do it than adding the workload of the existing announcers. It still takes the same amount of work.

It's no different to what the original BBC Three, and before that BBC Choice did. In fact I remember when Choice ditched their live announcers (shared with 1 and 2) and went for its own who popped in a few times a week to record them

I'm looking forward to hearing the other new BBC3 announcers - they've got ten in all, and them all being younger than me is if anything quite reassuring.

Yes, they said there will be appearances throughout the evening (e.g. into all of the shows, I presume)

"Yoof TV" isn't what it was is it. Where's the fun? Where's the energy? It all feels so forced* and the launch show is basically more of an advert for Radio 1 than BBC3.

(*with the caveat I know I'm now outside the target age range of BBC3 for the first time in it's linear existence!)

I think having an announcer like himself is perfect, it's inline with the audience and doesn't feel too patronising like what the One, Two and Four announcers might end up doing to the Three viewers. Relatability works.

No it doesn't work BBC Three has to have the same announcers as BBC One, Two and Four.

Radio 1 logo keeps switching back and forth from the new to the old (although I can't be annoyed at them not wanting to waste a microphone cover!)

The 'Press THREE for Help' skit that was on just now was pretty funny, got a few laughs out of me! Interesting to see the old THREE wordmark at the beginning though.
