Hopefully, new sports and music events are acquired for BBC3 instead of just moving coverage that is already available elsewhere on the BBC to the channel.

One of their idents is actually my favourite ident of all time. https://theident.gallery/player.php/BBC3HD-2013-ID-4

Given the idents involved projected images, that's not as big of a hurdle to jump over, in theory, as it might appear to be at first. Spend the money to make some new graphics (or adapt some of the old ones) and that's most of the problem solved.

http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/aboutthebbc/r...ebrief.pdf I've just randomly found further details into the return of BBC Three, which seems a good few weeks old. Could be real, could be fake, if it is real, I wonder why they didn't use Reith.
Anyway, from what I this source says, programming between 19.00 & 21.00 will be 'Repeats', and the shows displayed are Top Gear and Race Across the World... Oh dear.

Race Across the World is repeat worthy as well. The schedule on page 93 of the document looks solid enough - not too different from before except the Family Guy 11pm slot is replaced by BBC3 classics.

I know it says "might look" but three hours of new content a night is very unrepresentative of how the schedule will look most nights. There will be repeats 8-11pm.
There is a place for BBC3 shows on BBC1 but the problem is that for so long the BBC have catered almost exclusively for older audiences that it would be difficult for them to do well given that the average age of a BBC1 viewer is vastly outwith the intended audience for such programming. Yes, BBC1 is for everyone but the BBC need to instil faith in younger viewers that they are being represented by airing programmes for them on the main channel - and giving them an equal standing alongside those intended for older viewers - instead of fobbing them off with a channel that will be mostly repeats a few weeks after launch.

The BBC are also certainly back in the market for US shows. What they do with BBC1 after the news remains to be seen - probably mainly repeats, inc BBC3 content, and perhaps some imported series.

At all. |
