Where have I offered MY political opinion? I have my opinion on Boris as well as my opinions on all of these five but they are not for here.
All I have said is that the editorial stance is, in my opinion, incorrect, although this improved since I made the post. There are many outlets, including on Channel 4, where the events that got us to the current point may be called to account. This is not it. The leadership debates should not be about what HAS been done. They should be about what the winner of this contest is GOING to do. Less focus on the past, more future.
It doesn't matter - to me anyway - what these five men and women think of the outgoing PM. What does matter is what they are going to change and do differently if they're the one who takes over in September. The past is the past and you can't change it.
Krishnan's been excellent. Did it tend to be Jon who hosted their debates in the past, I can't really remember Krishnan doing them other than the environment one. Hopefully he'll be doing the future PM ones too.

I accept that. However with regards to the debates I feel it is important to focus on what the new PM will do, not waste the debating time on what has been done. There are other places to dissect Partygate, etc. but these debates should have a focus on the future.

I'm sure the candidates would love everyone to move on too - which is exactly why those questioning them shouldn't gloss over it. It's perhaps not the issue it was a month ago but fair to question the candidates role in said events.

I don't think this is the place for your political opinion.
In my opinion, Krishnan is moderating this debate well - holding candidates to account, but letting them speak and not talking over them. Set and graphics are nice - wouldn't expect anything less from Channel 4.
You can avoid bringing a single political opinion into it and recognise that it was not a purely objective debate.
Asking people to put their hands up to questions nobody was going to put their hand up to was an absolute waste of time.

I thought we already had the debate in the C4 Privatisation thread about why C4 News isn't as politically biased as some believe?
It is part of the moderator's job to ask probing questions to the contenders and at times that means there were people on either side of their political persuasion who won't like some of the questions, but that enables Conservative members to have even more of a perspective of who they want as their leader.
You'll get similar questions asked on Sky, ITV and the BBC in the weeks to come, but Sky and ITV won't come under the scrutiny that C4 has received tonight because of the situation that our 'culture secretary' has placed the channel under.

While it was a good debate, and there was one broadcast glitch I noticed that made Rishi Sunak sound very sweary about 7 and a bit minutes (look it up on All4 after it's uploaded).
Ultimately, the result of the latest Tory leadership contest and the one candidate who ends up becoming the next official resident of No.10 Downing Street and our next PM is down to the decision of the ordinary (non-Parliamentary) members of the Conservative Party who (apparently) have been members for at least 3 months before they can vote in a party leadership election.

He did the last leaders' debate - I posted it a few pages back. (It was at the same sort of stage of the contest but Boris Johnson declined to participate, so they empty podiummed him)

The debate tonight was at BT Studios in East London. Does make me think that the ITV debate will be TC1 as TC2 is way too small.

TC2 is still bigger than Studio F at Sky, although a virtual audience will make the difference there.

Frankly, it would have looked too obvious to do it on a Channel 4 debate. Furthermore, the plans are by-and-large the pet project of one Johnson loyalist in particular who probably won't be in the new PM's cabinet. I think this one may get quietly retired.
