April Fool Idents and other stunts

I had assumed that the whole thing was a complete fabrication, but happy to be corrected.

The description says it was supposed to be a 10 second link that they usually did after the break in the middle of a programme, but on this occasion it was dropped so they could do this - so I assume the whole thing was not broadcast but he thought he was on air.

The picture quality and the lack of DOG (as well as the bits at the beginning and end) clearly shows it's from a non-off air source. Doesn't mean the link wasn't broadcast of course, but it wouldn't have had the talkback, or the bits at the very beginning and end.

CBBC had a bizarre April Fools day joke in the 1990s - a piece on the opening of an underwater rollercoaster at Alton Towers. The lake was to be filled with sharks, and riders in scuba gear would ride through the lake in caged coaster cars . I say bizarre, because it was repeated later not on April the 1st - so it just seemed odd.

I already mentioned that earlier in the thread- it was Live & Kicking that did it.

I don't remember them ever repeating it though, apart from showing a clip the following week to clarify it was an April Fool, then including a clip of John Barrowman putting on a wetsuit as part of the end of series montage.
