I said this on the other place, but I'm sure along with the BBC Three return announcement, the BBC had said they were investing in new animation.
You could do a co-production with an American streamer to find the next Family Guy or look over to Japan - get some anime over (I'm surprised Three never did that previously except those two episodes of Lum on Choice.)

The 2016 idents were ok, however there was only 2, which was literally 1 sequence split in half. I wouldn't really be surprised if they used the generic Threetime idents. Regardless, there is some hope for new idents, and it'd be a great time to renew the Oneness idents.

I think they'll keep the tricon as a icon like the BBC Two "2" numeral from 1997-2018, only used in presentation. As for the idents, I've been thinking they'll do an "MTV Artists ID" sort of thing.

This is an interesting idea. Although with the confirmation that BBC One will have local HD variants within the next few years, could we see BBC Three returning to 115?
I assume that Freeview is the biggest problem, what with the mess it's already caused getting BBC Four bumped up in Scotland.
What's the deal with 7 and 8? OK for most of the UK apart from Scotland?

Suspect HD and Three will swap on Sky, wherever it ends up.
This was flagged as an issue on Freeview when the reshuffle to accommodate BBC4 in Scotland went to consultation but it wasn't seen as an issue. 7/8 are taken in Wales as well with S4C and the local channels. I suspect BBC3 will get the BBC4 slot with BBC4 bumped down to 24, with BBC3 on 23 in Scotland and another bump down for everyone else - and yet again the opportunity to add genres for Film channels, Shopping, Music or +1 will be missed.

What's the deal with 7 and 8? OK for most of the UK apart from Scotland? Yeah, forcing everyone to move down a number was stupid, now 4Seven is on channel 48, not 47, which Channel 4 can't have been pleased about considering 47 is literally the channel's name.
And yes, it was caused because Scotland has three local stations, BBC Alba, BBC Scotland and That's TV Scotland. Considering That's seems to be showing endless music videos and not local programming, they should really have their licence revoked. That would fix this problem as Scotland could have Channel 8 and BBC Four could go back to channel 9, freeing up 24. Most areas only have one local station, 8 is only used in Scotland, Wales (where S4C is on 4 and so Channel 4 is on 7, so That's TV is on 8) and for some reason, London (which doesn't have anything on 7).

The next bump down for BBC3 should give C4 channel 47 back (as Film4+1 is 46), though whether they'd do the logical thing and swap their channel order remains to be seen.

Its all well and good the Beeb eyeing up EPG124 on Sky, but as Sky own the slot I expect the day Fox closes it will be filled by a Sky branded channel.
Anyway, Ofcom have not even given the go ahead for Three's return to telly yet. Imagine it being a case of 2002 all over again and Three not being given the green light and where BBC Choice carried on. (Not that we have Choice to fall back on if Three is not given the approval).
The BBC One HD slot is the best place for Three on Sky.

Don’t forget BBC purchased CCXTV on channel 23 and with Freeview rules now relaxed it shouldn’t be a problem to move Dave Ja Vu and put BBC Three there.

True.
Not sure the BBC would be content with that space for BBC Three however, so they could end up moving BBC Four there, and BBC Three would subsequently get channel 9. If I remember correctly, the BBC's average viewer age is well into the 50s now, so it's of utmost importance for the BBC that linear BBC Three brings that figure down a bit.
