It's Christmas!!

Interesting story on BBC News website today. There were plans for BBC Radios 3 and 4 to air a special version of The Snowman this Christmas, with the musical score consisting of a choir doing a vocal-only version (no instruments) and Stephen Fry reading the story. Howard Blake (composer of the musical score for the original C4 version) has apparently now gone off the idea, saying he doesn't want his music to be "desecrated" in this way, thus meaning the BBC has been forced to abandon the whole thing.

Bit hard for the rest of us to pass judgement, given the fact we'll not get to hear it now. But I do wonder if he might have had a fair point here??

Just put out the Irn Bru version instead Wink

Seems like he was against it from the start but they tried to force his hand by saying they'd already told the Queen and Prince Charles they were doing it. Didn't realise the Beebs Christmas schedule required royal approval - maybe she's a massive fan of Mrs Browns Boys.

Apparently so:

But of course there is no need for the Queen to approve what goes on TV, especially when the likes of Mrs Brown is ripe to be spoofed:

If it was anything like the vile, desecrated version of Jerusalem the BBC devised for the 2020 Last Night of the Proms, I suspect he was totally accurate in his description. Some things are already perfect. No need to alter them or recreate them differently.

During live rugby coverage, I suspect.

Seen it in a promoted tweet as well!

I saw it during football on Sky Sports yesterday. I’m assuming that it’ll have a slot during I’m A Celebrity, or An Audience with Adele on ITV tonight.

Ok, now that the Coca-Cola Christmas truck is being played, all that's left is the Irn-Bru snowman and the hype of Christmas has truly begun.
Also known as "Allanbuzzy" on other places.

They don't seem to show that one outside of Scotland any more sadly... They used to in the 00s.

Have John Lewis got 2 Christmas ads this year, or have they retired the alien one in favour of a (presumably) mother and son doing yoga?

Feels like the John Lewis ad has been a non-event this year - just derivative of what they've done before. They could do with doing something completely different next year and going down a completely different route.
