I think we all predicted this would happen and they'd unlikely settle on a permanent replacement until September. It's the only option really when someone quits suddenly and you haven't an obvious replacement waiting in the wings.

I just hope they do ultimately go for a permanent replacement, even if it is reshuffling the current line up, rather than nobody really making the role their own.

This is an interesting line. I can see why having more editorial input into the show behind the scenes would be an attractive offer and could potentially be used to keep Susanna sweet and stop her from looking elsewhere now her 'partner in crime' has gone, though I'd question how true this claim is, as surely the presenters must have a good level of input into the programme generally in any case?

That's all very Apple TV's The Morning Show...maybe they'll give her co-host approval

It'll be like the weekly rotation of co-hosts who sit alongside Alex Jones on the awful 'The One Show'.

There doesn't seem to be a huge amount of obvious choices when it comes to a male co-host. Simon McCoy would have been interesting and a solid choice taking it in a different direction, but obviously he's gone elsewhere.

Why is The One Show in inverted commas? You know if you don't like a programme, you can just watch something else....

I doubt that ITV would have chosen Simon McCoy anyway. I think Piers Morgan's permanent replacement will probably be someone of colour and I Wouldn't be surprised because it has been on the cards for quite a while

Quote:While the plans are said to be extending to Loose Women, GMB, Coronation Street and Emmerdale in the future, it has been claimed that This Morning - now fronted by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield - will come first.

And this has turned out to be true: This Morning has now got Alison Hammond as a main presenter and Loose women now has Charlene White, leaving GMB as the only ITV daytime show without a Regular Main Presenter who is Someone of Colour (Ranvir Excluded as her main role is being a Newsreader and she only hosts the main show (6:30 to 9:00) during Holidays)

I've found today's show very boring but there has been some impressive camera work. Going into the break before 8am the camera person went right round the back of the desk then in font of it ending back where they began. very smooth for such a compact area.

GMB consists of a large team of presenters who all work together in various combinations - (this morning being a good example with the rarely-seen Charlotte/Ranvir pairing).

The wider presenting team includes Adil Ray, Ranvir Singh, Alex Beresford, and Sean Fletcher, all of whom show up in the studio regularly (and includes Noel Phillips as their North America correspondent and Andi Peters as their Deputy Win This Swanky New Car Correspondent if you want to widen it out from studio-based staff).

Some days, you're right, it might be Ben and Kate presenting with Laura on weather, but other days, you'll have Alex on weather, with Ranvir and Sean among those at the desk.

As long as the people on screen are doing their jobs well, I couldn't personally care less how light or dark their skin is, and I think GMB has a good mixture of presenters currently in any case, in terms of diversity, presenting style, personality, etc.

Without wanting to take the thread off track, I'll briefly add that I think Charlene was a great signing for Loose Women owing to her many years of journalistic experience. From the bits and pieces I've seen, she's fit in excellently and suits the show's style (but don't try to get her to say silly things on air because - as we found out on last week's Saturday Night Takeaway - you'll not get very far!)

As critical as I've been of GMB's style over recent months, I must concede that they do genuinely put a lot of effort into stuff like this and it's nice for us TV g̶e̶e̶k̶s̶ enthusiasts to see!

On this topic of GMB's next presenter, I hope they don't pick someone just because they're BAME (or whatever people prefer to be known as, I know there's been some debate in the media) over someone who is more talented. Of course, GMB have many very talented BAME presenters (more than a lot of other news and breakfast shows), but I'd much rather the replacement was picked on talent rather than immutable characteristics.

Of course, all this is probably just media clickbait talk - we shouldn't really look much into it.

Err...no. Confusedhock: :? The inverted commas were there because it is the title of the programme. They may not be totally necessary grammatically, but nothing hostile was meant by using them, despite my personal thinking that the programme could do with a makeover itself.

It was a a geek-treat for sure.

Two shots I’m not so keen on, they’re not pleasing to the eye (not to mine anyway)

1. The blue ceiling panels as an opening shot and panning down.
2. The wide shot from the gantry that includes the lighting rig - i feel it would work better if it was zoomed in to the desk.
