I think a server must've been attacked, as also down are Airbnb, Bet365, Staples, and Aldi, among others.

Channel 5 once used an Oxo advert from that website (with a very clear logo) during The 50 Greatest Christmas Adverts back in 2010. Probably as there was no clips of that advert online other than TV Ark.

Because they have to be cheap these days and download internet clips rather than go to the source to get a proper copy.

Hoping the site staff will say something about TVARK being down.
#34
So yeah, turns out there's a server failure and they're currently working on fixing it.
#35
Let's have that TVARK website to be fix and back to normal for good.

And still problems now it’s still down

Sigh... I can remember when the site was down for what was it, a couple of YEARS? Apparently they couldn't keep the site up while redesigning it. Let's hope this doesn't end up being a repeat.

I admit I did think "not again" when the site went down... hopefully it comes back in a timely manner with all the content, rather than us having to wait years for it to come back... or find it doesn't come back at all.

God, it's a nightmare for me. I think it will never return and on Facebook, I had to block that pesky guy named Max Bogie who is a liar.

Update from TVARK Twitter. Hoping this isn't a repeat of what happened before.

TVARK now puts up a 'Low-power' mode on their site, featuring the Teletext-like SPARK and the Memoriam section, while other parts are still offline and being fixed. Best wishes to them for the site's return in the future - they have been an excellent archive for all things British TV!
Now on TVTalk, Pres Café and DeviantArt. Goodbye to all that, TVLF.

The notice mentions they're trying to "recover site content". I hope that's not as bad as it sounds.
#43
Don't they have backups? Especially after what happened before that took the site down for years.
#44
"recover site content" usually implies a database somewhere is corrupt. The physical media - the video, the images and possibly non-database copies of the copy/text- are probably fine.

The bigger a website gets the more feasible it becomes to run it from a database, but of course the bigger the database becomes the more integral it becomes to the site, and if you're not careful and it gets corrupt or damaged or some page code makes a unexpected change to the database (by accident or otherwise) then the whole operation comes crashing down round your ears.

The homepage has been updated to include an embedded Twitter box replacing the Anna Karen memorial, and the SPARK screen is now saying that the website is being "upgraded".
