BBC One - post lockdown presentation

I don’t think it will be pre-lockdown Oneness again - despite there is still an unused figure drawing ident…

Agree with Flux, I hope they could find a unique symbol which reflects the channel’s identity.

I'd suggest it shows why you shouldn't assume a good photographer will necessarily make good video idents.

I find Martin Parr’s work hugely overrated , and rather unpleasant in its sneering.

Don’t get me wrong, as a body of work it documents some interesting moments of our time, but a lot of the photos are, technically and in my opinion artistically poor.

If do a quick Google search you’ll see loads of photos with wonky horizons, harsh shadows caused by a bare flash and less than inspirational compositions.

But, they are interesting to look at in the way they document our time.

I’m not so sure what the BBC were trying to communicate with them or why they choose Parr, it was odd there was just a couple of idents for a couple of months, there must have been a reason they dropped the circles without having a full package
trust me, I'm a lobster.

I do sometimes wonder if the next stage of BBC One is to take design merit from iPlayer. Ditch the red and go for the pink / darker purple look of iPlayer website to create cohesion with their flagships - please forgive the PowerPoint vibes. The BBC has also been using the three blocks within their pres more, I’m sure the government would love three blocks (sea, city, scenery) uniting us as ONE nation Wink

It would make sense for a new look to coincide with the launch of BBC North continuity, so my guess is any revamp will come at the beginning of next year, with either the current idents continuing until then, or possibly a brief return to pre-lockdown Oneness if and when social distancing and all Covid restrictions are relaxed.

Unsure whether this warrants its own thread but CA Beccy Wright is leaving the BBC after today after 25 years.

They're both women and that trumps regionality; ITV guidelines

There seems to be a lot of members saying that we know something new is coming, can I just ask how we know this? I've not been following this that closely, but I haven't seen anything other than members hoping.

Is Beccy Wright the main voice on BBC Four also?
"From today you'll hear some new voices when you're watching UTV, as for the time being we're handing over to our colleagues at ITV, but rest assured Julian and I will be back with you as soon as possible"

I have to agree. Is this based on any insider knowledge or is it just based on wishful thinking? As much as I’d like to never see Onemess again I can’t get my hopes up without evidence!

I think the speculation began with this tweet from a former announcer...

Shame to see (hear) Beccy leave. One of my fave announcers along with Duncan.

She has a very youthful voice.

She’s been there over 20 years too... earliest example I can find is this:

Is it me or does that CBBC jingle have hints of The Big Breakfast's theme?

Did anybody manage to record Beccy’s last announcement at 01:30? Unfortunately the TV Home ident recording only has the very end of it and I seem to have just missed being able to rewind live iPlayer back enough.

(Edit: Seems to have been corrected!)

I may be imagining this but weren’t they all created by David Arnold? CBBC, The Big Breakfast and Live & Kicking?

As for Beccy, I agree about her youthful sounding voice, she’s also very calming and sounds personable whilst being professional. I wish her well on all of her future endeavours.
