I'm going to be honest but I really miss 60 Seconds on BBC Three.

I'd love 60 Seconds to return when BBC Three returns as a linear channel, in retrospect I think they should bring back the 1958 bulletin on BBC One as well.

I miss short hourly(ish) news updates in general - TV used to rival radio in that regard. Over the last year especially sometimes a couple of minutes is all you need.

I'd always thought that "Newsbeat" would have been a better name for any news bulletin or bulletins (30min / 15min / 60sec) on BBC Three. Unifying the target demographic for BBC Radio 1 and BBC Three TV. I did find it odd that no move was made ever between the original launch and its "move online".

I think it makes a lot of sense.

The tie up between Newsbeat and BBC Three would be a logical one, although the age-old question of where does funding sit etc is always thrashed out with this kind of thing (collaboration often been seen as a by-word for cuts). That said, they both serve a relatively similar demographic and certainly something more targeted would work better, in my opinion, than the previous iteration of BBC Three News which started going down the 60 seconds route of thematic news ('let's take a check on the global news channels'... why?)

There’s much greater discipline at ITV and perhaps shows a different way of working, where ITV is much more collaborative with national due to less resource? Or I could be barking up the wrong tree.

I’m not sure you need such a rigid insistence that all the regions look the same. It gives them a bit of creative freedom and as proven with NWT in 2007, you can create a unique look that sits well within the brand, and it’s not as if a region has gone totally away from pips and pulses. Only thing I suppose is budget - having one set of titles with just a different name and pics is much more cost effective.

I think the ITV Regions all get their graphics and titles produced centrally (pardon the pun) at Central, a team led by Les Halliday create explainers, titles, special graphics and such for all of the ITV regions. They worked with L-N for the 2013 revamp by all accounts.

One thing I miss from the old days, which has been mentioned before, is how pacy the whole opening sequences were. I don't just mean the snappier headlines, but the whole cutting from the clock/ident to the programme.

What used to happen pretty instantaneously now is a few seconds silently looking at the presenter before the headlines start. I assume this is to do with simulcasting and opting in etc but it's still a shame.

Comparing the 2 10 o'clock intros from 20 years apart shows this (incidentally I don't remember seeing Nicholas Witchell presenting during this look before).

I think you're right but it is also now a quintessential feature of the BBC design. Only need to listen to the new smartspeaker 'titles' and its such a versatile element that is resonant with the theme that works.

I agree, with the shorter length comments. But I would say with regard to the slight delay in starting is that at the presenter is looking at their computer screen for the grren light for the sequence to begin. But all in all why they can't have have the titles hit the 1'00 mark these days at the latest I don't know why.
