What got you in to presentation?

As funny as it sounds, BBC2's idents from the early 90's used to scare me as a toddler, probably due to the ominous music (thanks Martin Lambie-Nairn ), that's probably the first time TV presentation struck a chord with me. The idents were brilliant though.

I'm just about old enough to remember ITV with regional identity, I remember the Central cake up until Carlton took over, living in the Central region was such a privilege in terms of presentation. Although I must've been very young, I can remember seeing Central's HQ on Broad Street in Birmingham. I liked the Carlton Star idents too. By the time I was 13, all regional identification was gone. I also remember Granada, Meridian, Westcountry, Anglia and probably even HTV when I went on holiday in different parts of the country, visited Granada Studios too.

After I gave this a watch when I saw it in my recommended - that’s what drew me in! (Honestly I only clicked on it because of the fancy thumbnail - don’t judge a book by its cover out the window!)

I had always had an interest in TV without really realising it, but when I saw this, I was instantly hooked. I haven’t been into presentation for as long as some as some other people on here - but it’s quickly become my biggest interest.

I remember it so clearly, actually! I saw the BBC News countdown for the first time in 2003 when I was 10. I was fascinated and downloaded a copy from a file sharing programme that rhymes with slime fryer and the rest is history.

With me it was the BBC News idents of the mid 80's eg the "flying fish fingers". I don't know exactly what it was about them but I was amazed at how they looked.
