Here's the longer version of the ident:

The new logo reminds me of the logo they used between 1997 and 2001 (before the Aspers took over Western International Communications, which owned CHEK and sister BCTV):

For a bit of additional background, shortly after Canwest took over the station, CHEK dropped all simulcasts and shared content from BCTV and dropped the CHEK branding, as it joined CH, a secondary, looser network to Global, with fewer stations and a line-up consisting of Global scraps (actually lower-rated programming that was not fit for Global's audience) and American off-network syndicated fare during prime-time, with local programming and internally syndicated shows remaining the bulk of the schedule. In an attempt to boost audience, the company sealed a deal with Comcast to rebrand the network as E! and air its shows; fearing the audiences would be alienated with local programming being thought as celebrity-oriented, the CHEK branding was revived after the rebrand, initially for the local shows; when CHEK was sold to its employees and local investors after an aborted closure attempt, the branding was made permanent and the logo was updated, as part of a campaign called "Watch Local", emphasizing its ownership and an increased focus on local programming (alongside syndicating some non-religious shows from Christian broadcaster Yes TV during prime time).
