The association isn't there yet with BBC News and BBC Sport especially.
I think for the corporate and on-air, they would most likely use BBC blocks logo with service name underneath, as we seen on BBC iPlayer, Sounds, Sport, and News promos in order to prevent confusion about symbols of three blocks icon on each 6 services.
There was a podium being considered but I assume it was too close to the Sounds icon with the vertical lines so it was swapped out for a running track. I think it looks good and I'm already starting to identify it with Sport now it's on the app, just need it to be used more.
For on screen I'll run through how the promos work for say a Sport programme:
Begins with a full screen Sport icon over picture which animates in and out. The promo then plays. BBC blocks then appear top along with programme details and SPORT at the bottom with yellow background (as now), the background fades to black and the BBC blocks then fall into the centre of screen and create the icon with Follow on SPORT at the bottom of the screen, and then this icon transforms into the iPlayer icon with Watch on iPLAYER. End of promo.
That's how it's supposed to work and is what should be being played out now.
